So Saga, you have done it again...

So i ordered a new jacket and pants from Saga in September time. All of it was in stock so it was all fine. I got my confirmation that my stuff was ready to ship. I got confirmation that my stuff had shipped. Yesterday, however, I got told that my order had been canceled my Saga in between US and Canada.

I emailed them asking why and they said that they had to cancel my order as they "Have a temporary shortage in our inventory forcing us to backorder a few items."

I asked my self two questions:

1. How could i have got through the whole process of ordering to the point that my non existent goods were actually being shipped without being told that they didn't actually have them in stock.

2. WTF did they send?! (I got a tracking number and everything)

So what they are saying is, I can wait till start of December and get a free gift pack. Get this right, the 'gift pack' includes. 4 beanies, 4 face tubes and 2 balaclavas. (tanner hall, engage) WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT FUCKING 4 BEANIES and 4 FACE TUBES AND 2 BALACLAVAS?! FOR THAT MUCH JUST GIVE ME A FUCKING HOODY.

But for real, im not a spoiled little bitch so i dont actually care when my outerwear comes and i dont care if it comes with 20 hoodys, 100000 hats and whatnot, i'd rather it came with nothing. Even though im skiing on saturday - end of May and am in desperate need of a new jacket I understand that when you are processing that amount of orders at one time, things can go wrong. I just wanted to vent on here. NOTHING LIKE A GOOD INTERWEBS RANT.

For what it's worth, I've been through the Saga HQ and it's a dialed and precise process as good as any "major" company out there. In fact, most of the larger companies do third party shipping which means when you call the company to ask about their shipping, they send you to a customer service rep based in Tennessee. Shipping mistakes happen. I've been rocking a Saga kit the last two seasons and it's a great option at an unbeatable price.

Also, they offered you extra gear for their mistake which comes at a cost to them, not you. That's stand up customer service and I don't know of many other companies in any industry that would go that far above and beyond to make something right.

I think the consensus every year (because I think everyone knows that Saga tends to fuck up shipping/dates) is that they need to get their shit together, but because they make nice shit, everyone retracts their accusations, except for the kids who actually didn't get their gear in time.

CrotchKiller is 100%, who the fuck is anyone else kidding? How is Saga not in the wrong here, who gives one shit if they are indie/core/support our industry in a way. This has been a reoccurring problem year after year, fucking deal with it and change it so there isn't a problem. Its like fuck, come on, you acknowledge that you have a customer service problem, you probably figure that out. You are a business, regardless of who your customers (spoiled 15 year olds or whoever), act like it.

we take full responsibility for these problems. last year people wanted their gear earlier than mid november so we pushed things ahead and tried to ship out products in october. we shipped out over 90% of all pre orders by the first week in november. there were a few customers who got their orders back ordered.
last year people complained that we werent answering emails and customer concerns quickly enough, that problem is all but solved this year. youre more than welcome to be angry with us for not being perfect, were ok with that. were trying as hard as we can to get our fans their gear as quickly as possible.
no excuses here, just trying to do what we can to improve. if its not enough then were sorry, were only human.

How are they not addressing it? They apologised, told him they would get it to him ASAP, and offered him free stuff as compensation. That is pretty good customer service, regardless of who they are.

Do you actually think that other internet based clothing companies have a flawless shipping record? That would be a big fat no, I have experienced numerous problems like this one with other companies, and I didn't get free swag out of it. Mistakes happen, this is a fact, and Saga is dealing with it in the most professional way.

I will also add that Saga never claimed to not be in the wrong, and they also never acknowledged to have a customer service problem, so basically, you're pulling arguments out of your ass. I simply don't know what you're trying to say.

Let me put it this way:
You call a nice, fancy restaurant and make a reservation 2 months in advance.
The the night you go there, you get to the restaurant for your reservation..
They then make you wait 35 minutes and when you complain, they say 'my bad, here are some free breadsticks'.

Well chances are, you wanted to fucking eat dinner 35 minutes ago, not some shitty free breadsticks.



Ok, now imagine that happening every time you go to the restaurant. That is Saga.
Even when I went to their store in SLC (mind you I was on vacation with my family), I had to wait 10 minutes inside their store for an employee to show up so I could buy my two shirts.


I love Saga and all their products, but they just need to get with the customer service program.

Have you ever walked into a business that is completely empty with all the product sitting out? And then gone unnoticed for 10 minutes straight. I literally could have stolen everything in the fucking store.
Also I haven't included the 20 minutes before that when I went to the store and it was empty, so I decided to go to 4FRNT next door and talk to the guys there. So thats about ~30 minutes of an unlocked empty store.
Its not just a customer thing that is the issue. Its a regular business practice.

sorry you had to wait. it wasnt empty, there was someone in the other room working on processing orders. our "store" isnt really a store. its more of a show room. We welcome anyone to come down, check out the gear and take a tour of the warehouse but we dont necessarily try to promote direct sales out of our office space. something to work towards in the future though.

The saga shirt i got this summer was terrible quality. It didn't even have a tag on it anywhere distinguishing the size and after maybe five washes the printed logo started peeling off. My fd wear shirt that is a year old still looks and feels great. "superior"? Not to me.

It isn't an excuse by any means, but independent company's in niche markets often experience growing pains- frankly it's unavoidable. I don't know how everyone seems to fail in realizing how great it is that a customer can air a complaint and a company directly responds to concerns within a thread- clearly they care about their base.

they provide you a superior product, with the fit we all want at an insanely cheap price point. They are one of a kind in the ski industry. First Drop, Lethal Decent etc. don't come close to Saga's product diversity, quality or style. They are providing a more personal, unique product than any of the old guard (ie Oakley)- if that is what you want as a customer, than it doesn't mean you need to excuse errors, but understand there are some occasional hiccups in small business.

Shit! Just saw this after like 2 days. I fucking love Saga. I was just pissed that they messed up my order again. Also, i said that i could understand why it has happened: small company, lots of orders, etc.

No need for the shitshow!

Not all anomie things were back ordered. Only certain colors. Also some of the bigger retailers had their orders shipped sooner than customers. While we were packing the 1000s of customer orders we were also working on packing retail orders. Several retailers were also told a few items they requested were back ordered and will be delivered later. It's a shitty scenario we ran into but in 10 days it will be solved.

Meeting the crew at Saga makes me understand the situation a little more. Those guys work their ass off, I'm not sure if they even have a social life. Saga is having problems keeping product in stock. Thats something every core company would want. Does that mean anything to you? (probably not because kids have no sense of business.) I'm honestly stoked for their success and wish them the best. Take note, pull that tampon from your vaginas and be patient. Your item will arrive soon enough.

This isn't bias, only truthful. I'm guilty of only owning a saga hat..

here is my experience with saga

back when the beaverfur or w.e it was clled came out I bought it and loved that shit to death, while kiing some trees I happen to catch my sleeve and pretty much half my sleeve ripped off. Sent them an e-mail asking if they had anymore in-stock hiding since they were sold out on the site. they asked me what happened to my jacket. told them about my epic day just to end in a downer due to my sleeve being ripped. They said they would look. About 3 days later I received a brand new jacket from them free of charge, whih a note written inside with something along the lines of" here's a jacket, we are glad you are stoked on our gear, now you have a jacket for the rest of winter and a vest for summer skiing"

Wouldn't say that was a shot at all. Although it did seem like it I think saga was just trying to get a point across by stating a fact "people shit on fd for poor quality" saga never explicitly stated that they believed FD had bad quality stuff
