First Degree Stormtrooper boot?

Tried on the boots at a local shop in between whether i want them or not. They fit well with the exceptions of some pressure where the seam is for the tongue. Otherwise great, im sure aftre getting them molded the spot would start to go away. Ive owned a pair of full tilts now for years time to move on. Kryptons didnt fit all that well. Should i give these the Stormtroopers a shot?

I think most people would say don't get them unless they are %100 comfortable with them but you could probably just exchange the tongue. I think people are also hesitant to get them because it is their first year, but nowadays companies are testing and working out all of the kinks so they can release the best, most trustable product. So I think you're safe, and if you get them you should write a review!

it wasnt the tongue of the shell that was the issue, The liner itself has a sewn seam on the roof of the foot and it sticks out a bit imagine vans shoes tongue with a enlarged stitched seam for the meeting of the tongue and the shoe hah

Did you try them with any sort of a footbed? Often your foot will pronate and your foot will sit in the wrong position for the liner to fit correctly. However a footbed will usually rise the instep which may make the foot not fit.

Hopefully the tech shell checked the boot with your foot in a neutral position. what did he say about the shell fit?

The boots are not new either they have been released a few times so its not totally new tech, but it never really worked in the past so its unlikely they will be that popular now. But as I said in an earlier thread ski buying has changed so they may sell.

Overall take the advice of the fitter they will know best.

THe boot fitted well they only made the boot in half sizes 26.5 and 27.5 were the ones i was trying. I would have been perfect in a 27 but owell. ( i worked in a boot shop before too) the boot supposivly comes with a *aftermarket* footbed but i would still throw some superfeet in there. Go to first degrees sight and look at the picture of the cutout of the liner. in the liner where the tongue meets the rest of the linere theres a large seam that makes it stick out . It looks worse when you see it in real time. I was going to go with the 26.5 for the better fit on my smaller foot and then have the shop punch out the liner for my toes on the big foot. Im hesitant to buy the boot because of the seam and history. It fit well and seams like a good boot but i dont want to get it quite yet if that seam decides to stay and become a pain.

I was going to get the kr 2 but it didnt fit me well. I tried full tilt out when they first got back to the market with the raichle design and that turned out great. so im just deciding whether i should give these boys a shot. even better the kr 2 were like 800 and the stormtroopers were on sale from 650 to 520 hah

Im sure you know if you worked as a bootfitter, but a 27.0 would fit identically to the 27.5.

What do you measure in length? Also what is your unweighted size. That is often more important then the weighted size as unweighted is more like the size of your foot when you have a footbed made.

With regards to footbeds, superfeet are not great. If your using the trim to fits they are not footbeds. Invest in some good custom ones, preferable not the superfeet kustom Korks.

It may be worth going to see a good bootfitter just to establish exactly what size boot you should be in, have him make you some good footbeds and get his opinion on weather he thinks the storm troopers may be worth a try for you.

Guys these boots are dope! I'm on day 4,,, and they keep getting better. The best thing about these,, is that icelantic put in all the best aftermarket products into these. The zero liner will never pack out,, and can be re-heated over and over.
the foot bed is second to none.. My feet feel so connected. The adjustible canting is nice, although i havent taken it off neutral yet, I'm thinking of moving them to a more aggressive lean. Booster strap is highend.
I hear what you are saying about the presure point on the crown of the foot. I goes away though. id suggest getting the bootfitter to put a sliight pad on the pressure point when heat molding. It will probably work out perfect and make it super sweet instantly.
My riding style changed instantly after one run. Ive have ongoing knee problems,, an dfr some reason they are hjust such a stable boot with a super natural flex,, that it s really easy on my knee.
Walk mode rules too!

^ well, chalk that down as the lamest attempt at getting someone to buy your boots. I could point out a few issues with your statement that would show you have no clue what you are talking about other than some shitty pitch you got to help with your tech rep position, but everyone knows you're full of shit so I don't need to.

These boots have been released as at least 4 other incarnations (amplid, line, Deelux, Raichle). It was developed as a SNOWBOARD racing hard boot. That may give you a hint as to why they have failed everytime someone tries to license them for a ski boot.

Or you could listen to this guy^...

Listen hemlock jibber jabber,,,,, Ive just gotten back into skiing after 18 years of snowboarding. Took a day trip to Mt Baker a few weeks ago, and stumbled upon these boots at the mt baker ski shop. They had these on sale for $399,,,,and after they told me some of the good features,, I bought em. Im not familiar with the politics in this forum,,,but as there is little info on these,,,i thought id spread some love for my new boots.......

i've had mine for about 2 months now and i really like them. they're super comfortable, the first week breaking them in i had some pain in my shins but now they're fine. if they fit well i'd recommend them. the only issue i have with them is that they're not as warm as my old full tilts and my toes get cold sometimes. other wise i love them

If thats the case then I apologize and I'm stoked you're stoked on skiing. I would recommend taking sales pitches with a grain of salt though.

Just bought the ST2. Pretty good boot. I was looking for something stiffer than at FT and stumbled upon these. They fit really nice for me and were still a three-piece with a 45 degree bucket for ankle support. Breaking them in was iffy and not comfortable but now they rip. Super nice imo, only issue is see is the walk-ski mode can get in the way if you have FKS or Look bindings. Get em if they fit, especially the Icelantic model (much nicer liner over the First Degree ST1/ST2)
