Collecting footage from Mini DV
So I came across a canon GL1 for practically free and I wanna use it to film some footage this winter and be able to edit and so on, blah blah.. My only problem at this point is getting the footage from the camera onto my laptop so I can edit. It looks like I need an analog video capture card to be able to do so. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these, can point me in a good direction on where to find one, what kind is best (also cheapest), is there any other way to capture footage onto my laptop.. maybe someone has one they can sell me?? Also I'm new here on NS so hello everyone!
there should be like a mini dv out on your camera or something faster and that should plug into a firewire port on your computer. then in one of the softwares like Final Cut Pro, you should be able to "log and capture" and it will record the footage straight to the camera. Thats how ive done it with an XH-A1 with mini dv tapes
