The point would not be to add a department of business to exist in addition to the commerce department. The point would be to create a department of business that usurps the duties of the department of commerce and several other departments or parts of them and put them all in one place.

That may or may not be a good plan but misrepresenting the idea takes the discussion nowhere.

It does matter though.

The two legitimate choices we have are very different and offer such attractive benefits for the country as a whole. It's the equivalent to having to choose whether you want a toothpick shoved in your toenail and kick a wall a or a needle shoved up your dick. Your pick..... Both sound glamorous to me.

No I don't. I assume you mean Obama, but I don't support Obama. Even if I did, I doubt he believes that you can expand the monetary base infinitely in a short period without any repercussions. I doubt you could find one economist anywhere who believes that.

You argued that we don't have a problem with inflation. That inflation is good because it drives the wages up, the fed isn't the problem, that if food prices go up a bunch that's no big deal because people are making more money.


The fact that the value of the dollar is worth less doesn't matter, the fed is golden, and probably some other points pretty much point me in that direction.



Also not going to go back to the other thread and dig. It's all good. You're entitled to your beliefs on the economy. Go for it. Just don't be surprised when you find the same shitty results time and time again.

Inflation can be good in some cases, but not because it drives wages up. Usually that relationship is the other way around. I said it helps with debt relief and encourages investment (which it does).

I didn't say the fed isn't a problem. There are many problems with how the fed operates, but to say it is "the" problem is ridiculous.

I also didn't say that if food prices go up it isn't a big deal because people are making more money. I said if food prices are going up and people are making more money it's not a big deal (until you get into the zone of hyperinflation where money becomes meaningless, but we're nowhere near that)

If you want to argue with me you must first understand WTF I'm saying

I don't think anyone should be called retarded regardless of who wins. This will be a close race. At this point the map and polling appears to favor bamz, but that doesn't mean mittens has no chance. Once we have results from Virginia + Ohio + Florida we'll have a much better picture of where the candidates stand.

Believe me I know. It's a start. Continuing to elect assclowns into office because one person can't change everything is retarded though. The same attitude of, why vote for somebody who probably won't win just because they're legit, when I can vote for an assclown that has a good shot of winning.

Why would I be surprised? The economists I follow have had better records predicting the course of the economy than anyone. Dean Baker called the housing bubble way back in 2002 and Paul Krugman has been pretty much the most accurate economic forecaster in the media.

There hasn't been much that's happened that's surprised me.

Romney is ahead on multiple national polls recently among likely voters, as much as 51% to Obama's 45% by Gallup. The likely voter poll should be the only poll that matters, but unfortunately, because of the flawed electoral college system, the popular vote in every state matters. I smell a win from Obama with a loss on the popular vote, but a win from the electoral college. I am in no ways a Romney supporter, but I'd rather see him in office the next 4 years rather than the Obamination.

This was in response to someone above me saying that the debt should be at zero, which just isn't the case.

And I believe, as do most economists and President Obama, that a balanced approach to deficit reduction. We need some spending cuts. We need some tax increases. That's just the reality of the situation and something that the American people are just going to have to accept.
