Hey i am getting a new pow ski and dont know if i should get the line opus or the surface new lifes. I would be using them for tree ridding dropping cliffs (up to 30ft) messing around in powder, butters and hitting some jumps on pow days. im 5'7 and 140lbs. Are the opus soft or stiff? how stiff are the new lifes?
OPUS are sick. I love them. very surfy and very stable for jumps. I recommend the longer length, wish they had the 192 when I got my 185s! They ski very short.
The New Life's are an awesome ski, they float amazingly. When you aren't slamming them off of rails and hard pack jumps, Surface's last quite a long time. You could probably pick up a deal on a pair of last year's New Life's for pretty cheap, and I would highly recommend it.
I had the 178 opus and am now on the 184 new lifes.
I love both skis.
The opus are definitely softer but new lifes more extreme rocker allows for buttering too.
you'll be happy with either probably. the new lifes charge crud and churned up snow better than the opus.
both have awesome float
Thanks that was good help, since you have had both which in your opinion would be better for butters, powder and trees (just like a mess around powder ski). that would probably make or break it for me.
Hey, yeah um. i'd say by the sounds of what you are after the opus would be the better choice. slighlty narrower with the tapered tips for tree runs and softer for buttering, so yeah the opus
