MTB Videos, and how much experience on those trails the riders have...

so is a large part of the reason those riders can shred that hard in the videos in PinkBikes's homepage because they know the trails like the back of their hands?

I mean, i feel like i can handle my bike pretty well, but i treat biking like skiing...i like to explore new trails all the time. Because of this i tend to not rail corners and tend to not push it. when i do get to know a trail and its flow, i can push it and feel like i am whipping the bike around AKA like the videos.

so i guess my question is- if i want to start railing trails like the videos, should i just lap a certain trail till i know it down pat. Or should i just get better at biking so i can shred a new trail that way?

For a professional photo/video shoot, id say they run through the trail maybe 3-4 times. I mean look at downhill bike racing, its not like they have weeks upon weeks to practice the course.

yeah it helps, when you get a trail down really well you are able to brake super deep into corners, and use that energy to really rail corners or get a nice lil slide or whatever. it especially helps when you know you what corners you can push a little harder and doesnt matter if you go wide or off trail a little. carrying that extra speed into everything and using every bit of extra trail you can makes a really big difference. but yes, some of those guys are just insanely good as well.

Also when they film it's just sections at a time and you can discuss line choice and have a good look at what you are riding before you rid it something you don't normally do when you just ride

Well, they're also really good riders. There's a reason they're pros.

If you hit a rail 1645 times, can you 450 on, 540 switchup, 630 out?

I'd say a bit of both, I can rip my trails hard without thinking about, but if I head to some new trails its almost like a mental block that keeps me from going all out just because of the "what if" factor. Pros on the other hand can most likely shed any resort on the first run, but I'm sure they at least spot it out when they ride new local built trails.
