Do you feel weed makes it difficult to comprehend new things?

Ok so over the past 2 years i've started smoking quite a bit. Most of this time I would smoke nearly every day.

After smoking, after the high wears off, my process of thinking feels very cloudy and I feel as if it makes it difficult to learn new things at a fast pace.

If i stop smoking for about 2 weeks I feel i can think alot more clearly but cant tell if im actually learning things easier.

Usually in school I have been getting 84-87 averages for all 2 years so far in highschool. The thing is i feel like I cant think of any kids who smoke everyday who actually do well in school (above 90 average).

Does anyone on here smoke everyday and succede well in school. Or know anyone who does? I Just feel that smoking is holding me back and I dont feel as motivated to try as hard as I can.

And by the way the 84-87 average is what I get normaly, that is without me actually trying as hard as I can. This year Im trying to get all 90's since junior year obviously and 80's look like shit for colleges.

Yeah I know this is just another weed thread but please no cocky responses.

inb4 a bunch of high school stoners tell you they smoke every day and are going to get accepted to Ivy League schools in 3 years because weed doesn't affect your cognition at all...

After a period of smoking frequently for a long time you definitely get slowed down, I call it the idgaf time. When you stop smoking for a while you will be able to think much more clearly. At least this is my opinion on it, and the reason I don't smoke a lot while I'm in school

I smoke everyday, and I find that I still learn things at the same rate I always have. Maybe when I'm high, that's different. But if I'm in school, I'm fine. Yes, I'm in high school, but I'm sure it's similar in college (Only a little harder seeing as college is way harder)

School is mostly about applying yourself. If you pay attention in class, try to relate it to other things, and figure out a way to actually learn it, not just remember it short term, than you can do fine in classes. Just don't mix weed and school and you're fine.

yep straight a's, i smoke a ton of week like all the time, i feel better when I do, actually I just ran a half marathon and a smoked a huge blunt right before. fuck, weed helps my lungs and grows muscles, plus brain cells

I used to smoke a lot and I thought it was helping me get through my homework, because it seemed like I could write papers more fluidly while high, but now I hardly smoke and I feel like it's so much easier to think clearly. Once you stop smoking for a while and only do it every now and then, it actually becomes more fun because you don't do it as often...and it helps you stay focused and get all your work done if you don't do it...it got me depressed too, that's why I stopped and now I can say i'm quite happy I stopped doing it so often

just don't smoke very often during the school year....

For me it's not hard since I'm busy with homework and sports. Weed takes the backseat for me during the school year.

I had a buddy in highschool...we blazed quite often and he graduated with 96% avrg..he also never did his homework and was a lazy stoner. He was a rare genious kid though like killed math and science and everything! He's in Queen's U now becoming an engineer stilll keeping his usual habits.

As for me, I was lazy through HS got shitty marks took a year off and now im moving to whis soooo i cant complain! If you blaze but still know what you wanna do i think you should still get there unless you actually wanna sit in your moms basement spoofing bong hits forever............

If I am really stoned in class I find it hard to figure out what I am doing just because I am too stoned. When I had social studies or english I could function well when I had the right high and I didn't get as board about listening to the teacher talk because I wanted to learn. Math is a different story, I would never go to that class high. I would do my home work high sometimes but not go to the class stoned. You may be effected slightly from intaking new information after longterm use of cannabis but I don't think it is the reason for kids getting failing or bad grades. The reason kids smoke and get bad grades is they have no self control. Like kids who watch TV or play video games instead of studying or completing homework. I got my highest GPA last semester and smoked by far the most. It is you that determines how successful you are not the weed. If you feel it effects you negatively stop smoking so much or stop.

I know a kid that smoke an ounce a week junior year through senior year and maintained a 3.95 GPA while taking AP classes, and achieved a 2300 SAT. I don't understand how someone does that but it happened. It is statistically shown kids with higher IQ's are likely to experiment with marijuana.

This is pretty much what happened to me. Grade-wise at least. Im a sophomore now and working way harder this year and things feel like they are working out, I still smoke daily though. I mean... I need my medication right?

Exactly. Smoking weed in college is fine as long as you smoke after studying. Not before. Nothing like finishing a marathon homework sesh with a nice joint! This may depend on your major though, I'm an engineering student and numbers can get slow and tricky when high. Also, thinking that I can smoke and then study is a huge mistake. Even if I enjoy it sometimes, it takes forever to get the simplest problems done.

you can smoke all you want in highschool and still get A's. However you will probably not learn the shit you need to know for college as well and it will come back to bite you. Trust me I know from experience. Don't smoke weed at lunch. Go to school, go home, finish your homework, then get high.

Also if you smoke every day you will almost certainly be slower at learning shit. Everyone has a million arguments against this or cases of exceptional stoners who get straight A's in university. I know for myself if I get really baked even the night before, the next day I cannot follow the lecture as well. This is basically why I don't really smoke weed much anymore.

There is a stereotype of dumb lazy stoner for a reason.

I've smoked damn near every day since i was 14 and finished grad school with a 4.0. however, while in school i wouldn't ever really puff until i was done with all of my shit...basically just a lil night cap. i certainly wasn't waking up and blazin' all day long.

Didn't read thread, just OP.

I've smoked every day for years. I wish I hadn't of done through school as anyone saying it doesn't effect you academically is a dope themselves.

I did however learn something that took me around the world to make hundreds of friends and live a wonderfull successfull life because of it. I owe some of that to weed.

Take it as you will, don't let it get into your head. Stick to sativa style bud if you can for actually getting stuff done. Stimulates yourrr mind mannnn!

i'm a freshman in engineering and physics is a breeze when i'm just floating. i had a physics recitation on monday, i went after taking 2 big bong rips and completely destroyed it while the other 2 kids in my groupwho are like nerdy, always studying kids couldn't grasp any of it. in a weird twist, i think adderall makes math harder for me.

i cant learn when i'm stoned, i smoke everyday but i do it to chill out, if i have to do something that day i wont smoke, hence why i only smoke in the evening when the day is essentially over,

mind you i got baked in the sun on the beach the otherday at like midday, that was fucking awesome

I dunno, smoke less if it's effecting you? 

I was high as a motherfucker every single class all throughout college and still walked with a 3.7 but it effects different people differntly.  If it's messing with your grades then I'd dial it back a notch or two and just burn after school and whatnot.

if you breathe in smoke instead of air your blood flow to the brain is going to be decreased, killing brain cells. so if you smoke everyday, you will become less capable of learning more. i know a kid who used to have straight a's and great test scores, now that he smokes i cant even have a conversation with him hes so dumb

if you are actually stoned when you study / work , you likely wont retain as much detail in your memory as you would sober, at least in my experience. im in second year mechanical engineering and i smoke every day. as long as im not stoned while trying to work, i feel like it has no effect. I keep it as incentive to get shit done earlier in the day so that I can light up later on haha
