Investing in Freeskiing?

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but i'm wondering if there are any publicly traded skiing companies for which shares can be bought. Freeskiing is getting more popular and I think it will continue to grow especially with the olympics coming up. If you were to invest in a ski/outerwear brand, which would you choose to put your money into?

Well to start with, I know nothing about the stock market. But, is it possible to invest in a company like on3p? They seem like they're continually getting bigger.

I mean everytime you buy a product you're imnvesting, but the company has to be public, and seeing how FB just opened on wall street, it will be A LONG time before any ski companies do.

really? worst investment either , i get a 50% loss every i sell my " investment" . I don't know why you think your investing. its all supporting you wont get a return on your money which is what this thread is about . invesssssting and making a return

First a company has to choose to go public with their financial situation. Thus they feel the need for more funds so they sell stocks. Not many company's have done this, though I believe atomic has, don't quote me on that.

skullcandy because to the best of my knowledge that is the only company that you can invest in that is remotely related to freeskiing.

i didnt mean literally, think about it, you buy a product, they make a profit, they grow larger, prices drop due to more customers, you save the next time you buy a product. granted it takes much longer, but it could also be argued it is less risky assuming said company has a long term buisness model and is plans to expand beyond local borders

most publicly traded companies have their finger in so many other larger areas that the returns would hardly be effected by the single expansion of free skiing.

but you should invest in corn. this drought is going to skyrocket the price in corn.

As a qualified financial advisor (CSC) , I have to say that this thread is pretty misinformed and downright silly. Of course you cant invest in any freeskiing companies nor should you want to. You should continue to support freeskiing companies as much as you can by buying their shit, and then go ahead and ask someone like me how to make money. Almost all of my clients want to invest in things that they LIKE, without actually thinking through a strategic investment plan to maximize returns. Often they do not take my advise, they lose money, and then complain.

My advise right now:

Invest in a solid canadian natural resource export mutual fund, also australian ones are doing quite well.
OR invest in one of the big german mutual funds , because they are also doing very very well.

If you want something less risky the rates for GICs will be going up quite soon, so dont lock in long term.

Also , SELL YOUR FUCKING CONDO, if you live in Van, Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto, there is a huuuge vancancy rate and a huuge amount of speculation and purchasing of condos for investment purchase (ive heard as much as 50% in Toronto), which create enormous imbalances in the markets. On the flip side, the rental market for condos in the next 3 years will be very very very good , which is gonna be awesome for us young people living cheap and saving for our first place!!!

you heard it here first kiddos .
