What got you into freesking?

So basically stated already, either a video or something in your life got you interested in this awesome sport, so what was it?

If its a video and you know where to find, please embed it, should be interesting to see where people first got interest.

I raced from like 3rd grade to 6 or 7th grade. Then we changed mountains to Mount Sunapee. They had a freestyle program in which I got really into. I saw Seven Sunny Days and met CR, Sarah, Colby, and Ingrid all in one day. Once I saw that movie all I wanted to do is ski park and slay pow.
Watching TJ throw the sickest bow and arrow rodeo 5 got me hooked. Also subscribing to Freeskier magazine and watching their podcast, along with all the films that was released in 07.

so here's the run down on how I got into freeskiing. I was firs taught how to ski before I could walk. then did that for years always wanting to go fast (I was pretty much Ricky Bobby on skis). Then I started to stray away from skiing for a few years because snowboarding was the "cool" thing to do and because my older brother boarded and I was like oh cool you can do tricks on a board that you couldn't do on skis(one you could go both ways on a board). Then I discovered freeskiing through a friend because him and some of his friends make a freeskiing video. I saw their video and was like this seems so much cooler than boarding because everything was more complicated and the tricks just amazed me. All I can really remember thinking is "I want to do that!". so I bought a used pair of Line twelve sixties off the same friend whose video I watched. I also found out about NS through that friend.

What started as my parents getting me interested in something that was just a fun activity and my parents just wanted to take a day away from their kids evolved into something much more.

Same here. In the winter of 7nth grade a was a huge gaper but then I saw people who were good and wanted to progress from there on out. I think it was the summer of 7nth grade when I was looking up "tricks" like how to to 360's and found ns. Lol

This isn't my story, but there was a school ski trip in 7th and 8th grade that got some of my friends in to skiing. I sold one of my friends my old afterbangs, he skis about 10 times a year and I try to teach him some basics at the park, I got him to learn sliding flat rails this year. He sometimes comes with me on urban missions with me to help out which I absolutely love. He can't 360 but he can shovel and pull a bungee like a pro.

After I realized I was going no where with racing I started just riding for fun. Then there was this slopestlye comp at my hill so I thought I'd go watch and it was really cool. There were only like 5-10 people in it but it was still cool to watch. Then 3 years ago my friend who snowboards entered a rail jam and me being me, I hated just watching so I brought my skis. I never hit a rail before but I just watched the one skier for 10 minutes and then did it and I've been riding park ever since! haha

Never seen freestlye before I went to the snowpark in avoriaz in 2011. First jump I hit I overshot the landing massively... I ended up fracturing my T5, spending 6 months not being able to walk and missing a year of school... 3 years later and I've been hooked ever since!

a combination of a ton of things, a ton of influences from people, especially coaches. the infamous tim zilla taught me a true love for skiing, lots of respect for him. i know hes doin grown-up shit now. one of my favorite people ever. as far as video/media stuff goes, i remember watching tanners part in TBC in a lodge in CO on a family ski trip. i was probably 6 or 7 but it got me hyped.

My freind told me about "some dumbass breaking his ankles on a big jump". I found the video and my mind was blown when I saw him going backwards on skis and doing things that I thought only snowboarders could do.

Might be a little unorthodox but when I was younger, 10 years of age I first started skiing and I would go off little jumps and slide over boxes. However since I was young I couldn't ski by myself and I didn't even know twin tip skis were invented. Anyways skip forward 6 years I finally decide to rent a pair of twin tip dynastar sixth sense skis. Being 16 I'm allowed to ski by myself and I went into the park and loved it but was shit at it so I decided to go ski groomers and ungroomed shit. It was all great fun. Anyways that following summer I get a great deal on a pair of Liberty Morphics and start watching ski edits.

Those are the two earliest ski edits I remember watching. Anyways then I purchase education of style and just get stoked on skiing. Start skiing more often that coming winter and eventually only ski park. Learn 270 on and switch ups that season then I discovered NS through the Colby James West Auto Tune X games and the rest is history. Now I'm on NS every day and plan on spending my life skiing. Love it.

My 230ft hill. The average time it takes to bomb from top to bottom of the steepest run at my hill is 14 seconds. That get boring pretty quick.
