IPhone 5

Gonna be announced early september. Available in october. Whos getting one?

I have had the same 3gs for 3 years so I'm gonna pick one up for sure. If i get another iphone on the same carrier, can i swap between my iPhone 5 and 3gs just by swapping the SIM card? I wanna use my 3gs as my party phone when i go out at night.

Anyways. This video shows that the screen will be larger and the dock connector will be different. Anyone know of anything else? I hear there was gonna be an "iPhone wallet" app.

if you don't like apple, don't buy apple. if you don't like android, don't buy android. it really doesn't have to be so difficult. when it comes down to it, both make spectacular phones. it's just a matter of preference.
personally i don't like that apple made the screen bigger but I am going to keep my 4s so for now i don't mind so much.

no one cares about customization, you can do that all on an iphone, get more apps then the android, and dont have to carry around a shitty plastic tablet in your pocket

Fuck I was set on the iPhone 5, didn't even look at any of the other options. Their maps look like horse shit and you can't even download Google maps. I read that you can still save Google's web app on their site as an app but that's super ghetto.

Yeah but you can still download the Youtube app, it just doesn't come stock with the phone. Right now you can't even download Google maps.

If they end up approving the app I'll get the iPhone. Google really has the advantage here though. If Apple doesn't approve it then they look bad, maybe lose a few potential customers and you're forced to use their shitty maps. If they do approve it they're basically admitting that their maps suck.

if you convert that from Apple marketing to normal talk they are basically addmitting it sucks compared to Google Maps

the turn by turn is nice, flyover is cool for ski areas, but they are missing key details in a shitload of places

The problem with implementing a feature as extensive as a map is that you can only test for so long.
I can remember when Google first released maps (on the pc), it was very limited. Apple is sort of a that stage right now.

You need a massive user base to improve something as extensive as maps, thats why currently there are flaws. The advantage is that it's cloud based so they change and improve it all the time.

Although I do have to say the navigation so far has worked excellent over here.
And I prefer the look of Apple's Maps to Google's, it's cleaner.

my phone was $60 new, with no plan at all. Granted it's not much good for anything other than texting and phone calls, but isn't that what a phone is for? And it does that just fine.

Well by that logic you shouldn't be using your cellphone to text because that's not what it was invented for. Don't you think it's at least a little badass that you can use your phone to do all sorts of other shit besides talking to people?

yes and speedboats, jet planes, retina display macs, actually anything apple, hd tvs, non leather ski boots, high speed chairlifts, goretex outerwear. i can go on if ya want.

im just mad cuz i can barely get reception in my basement, and half the time my texts dont go through, i drop 1 in 5 calls and my phone camera has a whopping like .4 megapixels.

the point of a smartphone is to make life simpler, you don't have to switch from phone to computer to camera to tv when you want to get many things done. obviously the phones out now can't be replacements for other electronics yet, but it's always good to have what's basically a little computer in your pocket

What I like about the iPhone 5 is how it feels in my hand and that you can fit five rows of apps on the screen now. I'll wait to they just add a S on the iPhone in six months or whenever or when I can upgrade again I'll get it.

So I got a 32gb yesterday. Most of all, it feels great to have a phone again. The new speakers sound amazing, I have music playing now and it sounds crisper. One thing is that even though it's a bigger screen, it will still use the same aspect ratio as the older phones for things such as browsing. Much slimmer, much lighter. Can't really complain about it except for the inconvenience I almost faced today when I didn't have charger with me. Overall, still love it. Can't complain. All those new apps that come with it, don't really do much for me. And the maps app is different too, but it still delivers what you need it for

But really, Should i just save myself the 100 dollars ( more like 200, having to buy new adapters) and go for the iphone 4s? I currently have a blackberry, but the battery is decrepit, phone freezes etc...

Im wondering if the iphone 5 is even worth it, seems like its not very revolutionary to me haha.

When was the last time I felt the urge to press my phone up against my bros and send him a picture. If you said fucking never, you are correct. That's the dumbest waste of time invention I've ever seen. It's the same thing as the iPhone app "Bump" that no one ended up using after 2 days because it was stupid.

BTW, there are already aftermarket adapters for 30 pin to lighting for $5 if you guys are trying to save money. Obviously buying accessories from Apple is never a good idea.

yea i laughed at samsung when they tried to pass the bump thing off as a noticeable feature. that bump app has been around forever on iphones and nobody ever used it. i tried but its a hassle
