How to lose your camera.

Park you car safely in a private well secured underground parking lot with the worlds strongest fence and more camera's then James Cameron has that belongs to a small apartment building and it can only be accessed by tenants or owners.

Then put your camera in the hidden floor in the trunk with the trunk cover closed and go wish your friend upstairs happy birthday.

30 minutes later I encountered this:

I really can't use this right now, i've just spend all my money on a few rather excessive purchases and now I've lost my bloody camera that i've worked hard for to earn.


Damn life sucks sometimes.

Check Camera's, Send picture of robbers face to the police station, file a report, find the person who stole it, get camera back, find child pornography on it, sell pornography, profit?

I'm not even sure it's covered despite the fact that I have a good (expensive) insurance.

But if they pay out it will most likely be in 8 months...
No camera for so long and a broken window on my car thats going to cost me before insurance handles that.

...so why not go to the police, and get the video camera, entry info, or other information, to help catch the person who did this?

Done that already, cops came and we wrote everything down and they copied the video from the cameras. All you can see on the cameras is a black blob who waited then went in after a car got in.

Then he waited until that person left and knocked the windows out of my car and the two Volvo's next to me. He checked them quickly including the boot.
Mine was last and probably jackpot so then he left.


But the Dutch police are absolute shit at recovering stolen goods.
We have to many rules and regulations here, and they are lazy.

Canon 60D with no marks and a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM attached to it in a Billingham Hadley bag.

So that will be pretty hard to find on ebay etc.. since there are so many 60D's and that lens on offer.
I'm so fucking pissed.

Happened to my brother, they took his car too. Be happy you've still got that. Either way it sucks though. Never a good feeling to know something has been stolen from you.

Your trunk may have leave or switch that if you switch it to off it won't allow the trunk to be open from the inside of the car. Only way it would open is if you use your key to open it from the outside, may be useful to know for the future!

Agh that really does suck. I'm sorry to hear that.
Something along those lines happened to a friend of mine. Her really nice camera got stolen one night. She decided to look on Craigslist and a week later, the camera was on Craigslist for pretty cheap. She bought it back. Pure luck.
Karma will get those bitches who took your camera.

fuck that lol. Normally insurance should definitely cover the camera as well as the window... I mean as you describe it, its really not your fault the camera was stolen. Car in a safe and surveilled place, camera hidden inside the car. It doesn't seem like it would be easy to find that fast... You did all you could to prevent that from happening. Get the fucker that did this and get your camera back!

I'm not sure how people haven't mentioned this, but now you can track down your camera through EXIF data. I guess there are websites that will search for pictures taken by your camera. You just have to wait until the person who stole your camera or the person who buys it uploads a picture to flickr or 500px or something. That's how they tracked down a bunch of Nikon gear that was stolen from an expo.
