Dynastar/Rossi blew it

Watching that Downey edit made me think how hard dynastar, Rossi blew their opportunity at owning the entire freeski game, next time I see someone with any Rossi dynastar Lange gear I'm gonna punch them in the face for supporting companies that abandaned some of the greatest skiers we have seen.

Oh lawd...First things first if you are going to rant type it up in Microsoft Word for spell check with complete sentences.

Rossignol is still prevalent in the freeski game...look up fks or s7.

There have been numerous threads about this before too.

Fks, is a good mf binding, as much as I hate them for disowning cvan,Downey,micheal, countless others, I'll still ride the race bIndings I get for next to free from ski swaps. These companies had bottomless pockets and could have made free skiing so ill but instead blew it and now trying to get core fuck I'm drunk

Who cares if a company doesn't have awesome riders? If they make killer gear I'm glad their spending time on making high quality gear than worrying about sending riders around the world to promote gear that can sell itself.

It's not about the gear as much as your thinking, we could have had real progression 8yrs ago that binding is much older and they developed it for your friend jonny gate racer, they make shitty gear unimproved for 30yrs, your gonna say s7s are sweet, yea they are but fuck that company trying to jump back on a ship they fled

I don't know what you usually ride on, but every pair of rossi skis or bindings I've bought are awesome and super durable. Maybe I'm just lucky that way but never ran into any problems with them. If something works great why fuck with it?

Young children are worth more than any other consumer group, educate the children and they make the decisions of the future, prolonged consumers. Also My parents due the purchasing according to what I want.

I Agee 100% that they make solid stuff^ it's just morals, pride, Idk. There are companies that can provide that same product or better that will go broke and die for skiing.

Freestyle is a very small percentage of overall ski sales. Considering how much it costs to run a team of athletes who place in x-games and such, it's an expensive investment for such a small sector of skis. No company has bottomless pockets, the only person to get rich off freeskiing is Jon olsson, and I suspect that's mostly through smart investments more than his sponsors.

Free skiing is super small I agree 100%. I'm saying if they had love for it or understanding of what it was or could have been they would have made proper investments, now they see what it is or can be and it seems fake to me along with countless other companies, sorry I'm on my phone I'm a retard and can't spell and my spelling and writing is at a children's level.

quit bashing shit you don't fully understand, especially when you are "drunk", how about instead of stupid hate threads about rossignol, you either buy their skis/bindings or don't! I like this idea very much indeed. I personally have skiied the same pair of rossignol ghettos for the past 4 season, and i got them USED, rossi makes great gear, even if they aren't focused on freestyle who cares, they still put tons of effort into what they make and its quality, skiing wouldn't be where it is today without them.

If that doesn't convince you look at tanner hall, if rossi had focused on freestyle they would have kept him and armada would (probably) not be where it is today! If big companies like rossi or k2 kept all the phenomenal athletes there would be none left for all the small start-up brands that FOCUS on freestyle to sponsor! So its actually good for the industry the way I see it.

how are they trying to get back? a few years ago (long after the dynastar team was ripped apart) Rossi did not resign the majority of their big name athletes because of financial trouble, instead going a model similar to the one LINE has been using since their original team disbanded (mike nick, skogen, ostness, wilson...). Looking to sponsor up and comers is not only great for getting locals excited about the products, but is more financially feasible when funds for a team are limited.

I wont ride any thing other than rossi. Never had a problem with them. Plus they have style for days! I have respect for every ski company out there because I support the whole industry, yes that even means FD too.

Owning the whole freeski game? that take a lot of capital and its pretty unnecessary in my opinion.

did you stop to think that maybe he got a better offer from some one else and left rossi? Maybe he wasn't preforming his contract requirements. Skiers arn't pokemon , you can't just have all of them

They make quality products at a decent price, and they own Klint, and most of the old Rossi/Dynastar athletes now ride for them, and as owning the whole freeski community or whatever, thats some bullshit if i've ever heard it. Who cares who's riding what, as long as your out skiing and enjoying the sport, who honestly cares...

There's a reason their molds haven't changed much. They're really good. The 78mm troublemake/superpipe and the 84mm scratch/s4 are great skiing, reasonably durable, modestly priced skis. So they went to a different model for their teams that was more affordable; it's smart business practice. And despite what any 13 year old on here says, (sorry FT) they make the best skiing boots in the game hands down.

i think all the guys contracts ended aroudn the same time.. and it was hard for them to pay for all them... seriosuly there were soo many top athletes on there team at the time.

I must say, in my final year of skiing, I was fortunate to be picked up by Line Skis. Don't get me wrong, I appreciated everything Line did for me and support them as a company, but I will swear by Rossignol skis anyday. I never had a single issue riding Rossignol for the years I did ride them.

i was fortunate enough to get back on skis near the end of last season (specifically may 10-13th) to work on a really special project I've had on my mind for a while. Thankfully everything went well and I couldn't have been more stoked to be back on skis. I am looking to team up with a company to do yearly projects like this where I push my limits and go outside the box, as I am also very busy with a lot of other projects right now too!

It's called recession and Rossi had to cut all team salaries by 50%. Thanks when Sage and company jumped ship.
Still their bindings are unbeatable. My PXXXL 15s will last longer than time itself.

rossi is one of the best companies out there for skiing

example:

this year I blew out my line chronics that i have had for a couple years, and more specifically i snapped the tip completely so that it was hanging to the ski by nothing but my base. so i went on eBay to look for a cheap pair of skis for the rest of the season and found last years rossignols s4 for about 250 +shipping, on my second day of these i fucked up completely on a rail and cracked the edge and bent it so it was sticking out from the ski, completely my fault. i liked these skis so i decided to mail them to rossignols headquarters with a nice message saying how i bought them on eBay so i dont have any warranty on them and i know how rail damage isn't covered but the rest of the skis are still brand new and if they could do anything to repair them just let me know the costs and what they want for them

couple weeks went by and i didn't hear from them, but then one day a nice looking long shaped box that we all know and love because it means theres skis in there showed up on my doorstep. Inside were brand new 2012 rossignol scratch s4's. Did a quick look online and the cheapest that i found them was about $500 dollars or so, and all i had to pay was the shipping cost to the headquarters.... they are my favorite skis I have ever had in my life compared to the armadas, line, k2, and salomons i have had over the last several years

buy rossignol, support rossignol, and you will love rossignol

Don't always assume that when a company and a rider part ways, that it is the company "dropping" the rider and abandoning the soul of freeskiing. Riders leave companies too.

You are in the midst of a piss poor economy, the ski market is declining (that means losing money), and we just had one of the worst global snow seasons in the past 30 years (that means fewer retail sales which means that many shops can't pay their bills to companies like Rossignol).

Given those facts, do you think any company's budgets have grown? You think these companies have MORE money to support every facet of skiing? No. Pretty much every single budget in every single company has less money in it this year than previous.

Sometimes cuts have to be made and athletes get dropped, it sucks. Sometimes athletes ask for too much money when they renegotiate their contract, and the company cannot afford to keep them around any more. That sucks too.

Bottom line, the ski industry (and winter sports in general) isn't doing so hot right now and cuts will have to be made. Sometimes in R&D, sometimes with athletes, sometimes in product offer.
