Stop fucking up the jump line. Landings need to be longer and steeper, but mostly longer. I overshot all day, and one of my kids fucked his knee overshooting 3. Rails are tight right now, though. Keep up the good work there.

not too far at all. I got threatened by a bigger snowboarder on the park crew to have loss protection called on me and fine me though. So i guess be careful. If you hike up on the other side of the rock ridge it may be easier to get on.

I'm the kid who fucked his knee up. thanks to the shitty jump i tore my cal/ mcl/ and meniscus. landed tech9 and wasn't even hauling too much. rails and boxes on public are good except the rainbow to fucking c. jumps need work.

Fun times to be had at Mt. Hood! I know personally not many people from where I live go there ever so the more people seeing what its like the better. def shouldn't be a problem if someone wants to stand on the ridge out of the way and get shots. Thats how I see it at least.

well timberline are sorta dicks about all that kind of stuff. for instance last year at windells a bunch of the coaches and skiers were hiking public and apparently we werent allowed to do that and it was against the rules. kinda stupid concerning how much windells, mhssc, and high cascade shell out to have their camps set up there.

Two main reasons.

1.) Timberline is a business. To put rails/boxes out on the snow an maintain them with the park crew, cats, and salt costs a lot of money. You wouldn't walk into a restaurant and start using their stove to cook breakfast would you?

2.) Anything that happens within the ski area boundary Timberline is liable for. Since we maintain it and keep it going it falls under the ski resort, just like any other resort in the country. So when you buy a ticket, you help pay for wages, fuel, salt, metal for rails, and cats yata yata yata. You also agree to a waiver that is on the back of your ticket or pass release. So if you get hurt you admit that you knew the inherit risks of skiing when you bought the ticket.

Windells and HCSC are not supposed to hike public because it is PUBLIC. Its made to be lapped and ridden in a line. Not to have 25 kids stack up on one feature and take it over. They are more than welcome to ride through the park just as long as they lap. Hike time is 2-3

Another factor that hasn't been mentioned is the liability issue. I'm not sure of Oregon's laws specifically, but I'm sure a lawsuit can be brought to Timberline as the result of an accident. If you hike (don't pay, don't acknowledge a release of liability) they are liable in the case of an accident and have nothing to cover their ass. Yet another unfortunate reality resorts have to deal with nowadays...

Ok, so I seem to not be getting through to anyone who is trying to answer my question. For the third time, I completely agree with those reasons, Im all for buying a ticket if im actually going to be skiing, Im all for employees getting paid, and Im all for safety. What my situation was is that I was not going to be hitting any of the features, No maintenance would be needed because of me, no salt would be needed because of me, and no snowcats would be needed because of me, and there was no possibility of injury. As I said, I was hiking up the rocks next to the lower rail features to set up my tripod and film a group of skiers that all had paid for passes and got confronted about buying a ticket. At no time were my feet ever going to be on skis carving snow, rails, or anything at timberline. Just simply sitting on my ass on the ridge, pointing a camera!

And again for the record, im all about you guys throwing people off for poaching rails, thats not my concern.

I don't know who stopped you but I'm strictly talking if I see people hiking with skis. If you just walk up the snow and hang out on the ridge as the park manager of Timberline I have no problem with that. I only kick people off if they are hiking up with board/skis

its not stealing, they dont own the mountain. you could hike up and take as many runs as you want and they cant do shit about it. they'd like you to think they could, but they can't. you could consider it morally wrong but as far as the law is concerned you aren't doing anything wrong
