Yeah you can't really compare them, but you could compare the original takeshis tower with them (which is what mxc is dubbed to) which is like the origin of ninja warrior and all that shit.

MXC was the best show ever, holy shit it was so funny. The american version is so lame; those crazy asians would come up with the crazy things and the people on the show would just get destroyed. I miss it so much

yeah you can't do it with americans (like wipeout) because the funniest part about mxc was th irony of all the american names, and stuff like having the dairy industry vs the automotive industry or having the announcer point out that the current contestant was an auto worker from milwaukee while mxc itself is this obscure japanese show with all these insanely crazy asian people on it.

what really made that show was simply the determination of the contestants. Those people charged everything and did not give up.

The american show wipeout sucks because there are too few contestants, and half the time they give up because it seems too hard. Also the fact that people fall into chlorinated pools....gotta have mud and filthy water!

It's because they are Japanese and giving up is dishonor to you and your entire family that precedes and proceeds you. Giving up is the worst disgrace imaginable.


That said, Takeshi's castle was brilliant and the first, a friend of mine went to Japan and bought a DVD set with all episodes for me.

Ninja warrior is a related show, even more hardcore and physically draining.
Makoto Nagano is one of the few who made it.
