What kind of a gun do you own?

Looking into purchasing a gun and have narrowed it down to the Rugar 10/.22:

If you own one, post it up and share what you like/dislike about it, what kind of game you shoot, etc. Any further advice on cheaper alternatives or anything good for beginners as far as semi autos go would also be greatly appreciated.

im looking into getting a 20 gauge in the next couple months. pretty much narrowed it down to a remington or mossberg, id like something lightweight since im a beginning shooter. leaning towards a mossberg 510 at the moment, but something tells me this is more of a gun for a real young beginner.

im 21 and weigh about 165 if that helps

any advice is much appreciated.

You can easily shoot a 12 gauge then, but if you feel more comfortable as a beginner starting with a 20 gauge then go for it!

That's a nice gun BTW, my dad has that exact one for hunting!

I had my 5' nothing, 105 lb girlfriend shooting a 12 gauge one of her first times shooting. You could easily handle it. If you prefer the 20 gauge though nothing wrong with that at all. Can't go wrong with a Mossberg, we use them as breach guns.

ive shot a 12 gauge before no problem, i just find it a little unnecessary i guess. id rather have something lightweight for my first year or two then upgrade if i feel like it i guess. i do prefer it, i was just asking the opinion of NS to humor myself i guess haha.

^ i dont really see your logic. Maybe if you were buying a sports car youd want a supra before a lambo but a training shotgun if you can handle a 12g just seems silly.

get a 12gauge 20's are for women and children.

i also weigh 165 and i can easily hip fire a 12

Ive updated my gun collection since the last thread.

Currently I have a RRA AR-15, 12ga 870 wingmaster set up for trap/skeet, S&W 686 .357 mag, 1942 Tula Mosin Nagant, Russian SKS, 6mm Ackley Improved (My main hunting gun), and my good ol Ruger 10/22.

Anybody else here into reloading? Ive got a single stage press and just so it as a hobby to pass time when im bored. Also saves money in the long run. Im making .223/5.56 ammo for around $0.19 per round and its capable of shooting 1/2 MOA all day.

Good shooting form will get rid of almost all pain associated with shooting a rifleor a shotgun. Lots of people dont firmly hold the buttstock of the gun against their shoulder and tend to lean back toofar while shooting.

Get the 12 guage. Its better overall for shooting and doesnt hurt to shoot if you shoot it right just like any other rifle.

Ya its pretty expensive at first. I'd recommend to look for a single stage press on some local classifieds. I was able to pick up a good RCBS press and 4 sets of dies for $100. Then its a matter of getting the stuff and saving your brass and then start reloading.

not to sure on that nowadays i think they can sell them here it just has to be a sporter model dont quote me on that one just a guess but it was given to me a few years ago not sure when he purchased it
