after the success of last seasons thread and the new season only a short wait away after the euros i think it could be time to kick this off

di matteo is set to be confirmed as the new chelsea manager, will he work miracles again?

who's your team and how well do you think they'll do this year?


i'm a sunderland fan and i think we will be top 10 and maybe just sneak into the europa league

sunderland look like a hard to beat team, we just don't seem to have any ideas in the final 3rd. i hope we click soon, got a good team on paper

Joke team everyone is old fuck for chelsea or are out of place in the premiership I don't see them getting much consistancy out of their players bar Cech or the CBs Cahill or Terry when fit. Abramovich is sick of spending money too, I have heard off the record all of his pals seriously take the piss out of him for wasting all that money on Torres. I think basically they can't keep up with the Manchester clubs. Of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool its sort of hard to tell right now which of those 3 if any can contend with Man U and Man C going forward. Nice to see the Premiership more open now and not so top heavy.

My Irons would have scored 5 today on those pricks if Peter Cech didn't make some big stops.

Big win for us today I've said all year that we could sneak the 4th spot and make the Champions League up the Hammers!

another loss for sunderland, very poor first half but the second half display was probably the best i've seen them play since o'neill first took over

we're creating chances, just didn't have the luck today

the ball that bounced off the post leaving an open net fell to the only centre back we had in their box, anyone else would have scoreed

onwards and upwards hopefully, got a sneaky feeling we may get a result against chelski next week

this season has been terrible. And I'm not saying that just as an arsenal fan, because I'd be using a much worse word than terrible to describe AFC right now.

There has not been a single really exciting match yet. Maybe Arsenal vs tottenham which ended 5-2, because a derby blowout can be entertaining. But otherwise...they've sucked. How many draws? more specifically, how many 0-0 draws have there been? And don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a draw that is a hard fought game...but none of them really have been good matches. Just boring, lazy draws.

I highly recommend the bundesliga or french ligue 1 this season. Much, much more entertaining than the epl.

i only have time to watch chelsea this year but we've have some exciting matches. the comeback against spurs and both against united come to mind.

i agree that bundesliga is great, again i dont watch much but the matches are always fire. great homegrown talent, great fans, as all action as the pl is. i love how that league is run too. those dortmund fans...mmm.

Just came across footage of the Bradford City FC fire in 85...


I heard about the disaster and never really seen it, but holy SHIT!!! That's so fucking gnarly and scary. Started as a couple of benches and then 5 minutes later people were running away literally on fire.

56 dead in the incident. So sad, man...

I know that this isn't about the league but, if Dortmund don't win the champions league this year, I will be shocked. They have been playing really well in the Bundesliga for the past 3 years but then seemed to hit a brick wall for the champions league. This year though, walked all over the group of death like it was nothing. Even used a slightly weaker team to beat City at home last evening. Some stellar stuff.

Yeah we are the best third place team ever in the CL group stages. Normally ten points and scoring more than any other team in the competition (16 goals) would be enough but not this year. C'est la vie, just sucks it was the year of our only title defence.

Really hope we don't go for the Europa League though, rather focus on the PL.

@shintastic I would love to see Dortmund win it, they're a proper club. Or Galatasaray. Fuck even Celtic. It will be really exciting watching as a complete neutral this year, rooting for the underdogs the whole way (please not Barca again).

Doesn't 3rd in group enter you in the Europa league knockout stage? Chelsea also has the Club World Cup over here in Japan. They have a busy schedule.

It will be nice to see Messi achieve that. Great player.

Yeah, statistically maybe they were the best this year.  But Juventus destroyed them, and I think Shakhtar far more deserved to be second in the group than Chelsea. Chelsea just wasn't good enough, considering how they should be playing.

True, but Balotelli was trying behind the back passes and some skill moves, and they failed. I could see why Mancini would sub him out. Silva had a good game, can't really say the same for Nasri though.

great night for sunderland, won 3-0 against reading and actually played well for most of the game and have a bit of confidence about us

also won my bets on sunderland to win at evens and score being 3-0 at 17/1. BOO YAH!

funny how I rant and rave, and overall go crazy over how shit Arsenal are, and then I realize they're currently sitting 2pts back from 3rd place.

I can live with that.


Decent game today too. Arsenal 5, Reading 2.

Was Arsenal in a nutshell. Good passing, overall dominance, scored a few goals, got lazy, made some terrible plays, conceded a few.
