Running from the cops stories.

I've never been put in a situation where I have had to do it my self, but i love reading stories about people who have. Whether it was on foot or in a car, whats your story?

also, if i ever am put in the situation in which i need to run (party gets busted or something along those lines) do you have any tips?

if there's a fucking shit ton of people at the party, just stand still and blend in with the crowd, they're not gonna summons/ticket/arrest 100+ people.

If there's a minimal amount, closet works well as well as booking it in the woods. If you're running in the woods, don't come out for a fucking while, although I usually just fucking lay in the woods haha.

I pissed off my neighbor at night once so he came outside in his underwear. And looked for me, said he was going to call the cops and when he went to go back inside he was locked out.

if you're in a car, on a bike, on a skateboard, or rollerblades, don't even bother trying to run from the cops unless you ditch your vehicle at some point along the way

i tried to outbike a cop in a highly residential area (lots of corners, thought i could make it) and didn't have a chance. i have outran cops various times on foot with ease though.


first time i was hanging with my friend Rachel at the local elementary school at 2 in the morning. popular smoking spot but we didn't care, we were just chilling. cop pulls up, we bolt into the woods, spend about 5 minutes running then came out on the other side at a lake. chilled there the rest of the night, cop never came.

second time i was with the same girl, cop pulled up next to us while we were walking on the sidewalk in the early morning. I told him she was my sister and we went for a walk because we couldn't sleep and that we were walking home at the moment. luckily i knew the upcoming street and said that was our street, he let us go without a problem.

third time i was with the same girl again, cop drove by, we dove into some bushes, waited for 2 minutes, cop drove by again, we started running back to her house, ran through some yards in the process. halfway there we realized the cop was following us along the road so we just stopped in someones backyard and laid low for a little while.


IMPORTANT TIPS.

1. run somewhere that cops WONT want to follow you. look around, pick out the place you'd LEAST like to run through, and run that direction.
2. if you decide to stop running at any point, GET LOW AND STAY QUIET. also, NEVER stop somewhere without an exit plan (for example any yards with high, unclimbable fencing)
3. coinciding with rule 2, always have multiple ways to go. if you've only got one way to go and the cop is coming from that way, obviously you're fucked.

wasn't the case for me.

Went to my first "drinking" party this past september and what do ya know...cops show. I was in the middle of drinking a beer and i see guys with flashlights walking up to the party..throw the beer in the woods...and just wait.


Me and my two friends were the youngest kids at the party. Cops had everybody over 21 go to one side of the trail thing we were at..everbody under 21 go to the other side. They got everybody's name and age and all that jazz. Out of the 20 some people that were there..i think 10 people had to go to court....


I have no running from the cop story. I'm lame.

Me and friends got bored at two. I take my sisters car out w/o her knowing, we go to McD's, and get some fries. We stop at a grocery store for a cig break, and we have some spray paint on person so we decide to go for a bomb run. We tag the store, hop in the car, cruise around for a bit. Go to a empty parking lot, tag a big white truck, tag the parking lot (dumbass friends), and drive off. Next light we stop at a cop pulls up behind up us as we pull off from the light, we go straight thinking he won't follow us. I'll be damned if he did. The speed limit was 20 mph for some reason, god knows why, but I didn't realize I was ten over because of such low speed. He didn't pull me thankfully but continued to follow us. We hang a left thinking he'll fuck off and trying to get out of his jurisdiction, well, he doesn't, but my friend's apartment complex is the next left turn, so we go there. The cop finally goes straight. At this point in the story I have stopped banging my head on the steering wheel, and starting to exhale really fucking deeply and I'm fucking estatic. We park in the apartment complex. We sit there for 30 seconds, then my bro looks to the spot next to us, and his dad is sitting in the car parked next to us. I scream 'oh fuck!', and throw the car in reverse (keep in mind this is grandma car. Chevy lumina..), we go try to drive around in a neighborhood incase the cop comes back to check for us, and we almost hit a cat, lmao. So we throw a cup at the cat to get him out from in front of the car, and keep going. We see the cop doubling back so we speed into the apartment complex. He passes, and we go home. I was so fucking nervous you guys have no idea.

3 people in car too many
Marijuana (2 bags on 2 people) in car (liability goes to driver, i assume)
spray paint in car, after 3 tags in one night
driving after 9pm without after-9 license
tobacco (not sure cop would care, but who knows)
speeding

I could've been seriously fucked. Not particularly running from cops, but in a way, kind of.

It was 7th grade mischief night I believe.
I live near a town house community, so my friends and I were throwing toilet paper all over the main sign along the main road.. A cop came so we ditched.. My brother and 2 of his friends run into the street and right to the waiting cop car. I run into the woods (theres some decorative pines that act as a fence between the road and homes) and hop down onto a little ledge with more trees on it. I chill there and get my bearings. I start to walk out. Im sticking to the sides of houses, going all tryhard marine-esq. Then right as I was on someone's walkway, the cop pulls up and starts interrogating my friends. I have to lay on my stomach for like 15 minutes. The cop left but there were others patrolling. I had to pick my way through the neighborhood to get to my friends house, constantly evading cops. At one point one stopped and I heard fucking dogs. But I made it back unscathed.
If you actually read that, you get a reward. Sorry, I suck at telling stories.

about 3 or so in the morning sitting on the curb had a bag filled with somethings i wasnt trying to get caught with. car pulls around the corner and i dont move for a second not knowing if it was a cop or not. turn out to be a cop and i dip out 40 or so feet of the road but theres only one tinny ass bush in the whole huge lot so i think ill be fin just while the cop roles by.
Cop stops right were i had been sitting and turns his spot light on scaning. at this point im pretty sketched out. Long story short i ended up sweating it out behind this bush for about half an hour and finnaly just decided id rather run. cop gets out of car and doesnt even bother picking up a jog.. end

me and some friends were bridge jumping last weekend in the erie canal. and a cop comes driving down the canal path, so i run to my bike and book down the path, go through some woods, pop out on a horse farm, and rode back on some car trails through the farm

My friends and I would climb the school all the time in middle school. We would sneak out at night and chill on top of the school (BAMFs I know, I know. We drank caffeinated beverages and the works). One night, it was like 1 in the morning, dead of night, throwing rocks into the parking lot from the third floor when we hear.

"HEY GET DOWN FROM THERE". The one cop in the entire town found us. We fucking booked it. Jumping from roof to roof. Climbing down fences and fucking FLYING into the woods. Cop drove around the entrances to the woods for a half hour. We ended up fence hopping to the main road and proceding to a friends house where we played halo 3 til the sun came up. We were so proud of ourselves lol.

my friends and i were throwing rocks at this dumpster trying to get them in, at a this abandoned car/garbage place. lot z in eagle heights for those of you that live in madison. anyways someone though the sound of rocks hitting the dumpsters were gunshots, and they called the cops. we obviously didn't know this yet so we kept throwing. before we started throwing rocks we took some gas from a boat sitting in the parking lot in this container my friend has, because he wants some for his moped. when we heard the cop cars we tried to run, but they cornered us with bikes and suv's. they made us lie down, i even got handcuffed. (claim! +300 street cred) they then questioned us, asked our names and everything. the dogs they brought didnt find anything so they let us go. what was sketchy was that my friend had a lighter on him and he didn't tell them about that, because if he did they would think we were trying to set something on fire with the gasoline. now im more hood than all the other kids i know because ive been handcuffed.

I was longboarding with a group of friends when I was 14 or so. Longboarding in my town is illegal and you can face a $200 fine.
I was chilling at the top of the hill talking to some friends then a patrol car roles up telling us not to skate on the hill. we agree not to and sit for another 15 or so minutes then we decided to go  down the hill. as we go around this corner there is a cop about 125 yards back and turning around in the drive way of a house to come after us. I though really they have a cop steaked the fuck out just to catch us god damn it. So i decide to book down the hill drifting around a turn at around 35 trying to get to a bike trail at the bottom of the hill  at the bottom i told my friends about the cop and told them we need to dip out. It turned out my friend needed his coat and as got his coat from the corner of the road the cop turned on the lights and blocked off the whole road with his car with his lights flashing. (we could have easily escaped if my friend didn't need to get his coat) The cop gets out slams his door and says sit down on the side of the road. He then tells us how we are disrespecting him, his department and badge the usual load of shit. then goes on about how he will probably issue us $200 tickets. Then all of a sudden this other longboarder comes down the road with a dog of leash and no helmet. The cop gives him the old strike one, strike, two, and three for longboarding and gave the guy a ticket and let us go since we were wearing protective gear.

Its fucking beyond me and i am not shitting you at all. most cities outlaw skateboarding in the road. Lots of kids longboard in my town so i think the police pay more attention to the law and are fat pricks that try to intimidate kids. the law used to be a misdemeanor so when they would call your parents they would say the next time we catch your son longboarding it will either be jail for 2 months or a $500 fine so ridiculous. That would trip parents out and make them not want their kids to longboard. they actually are trying to kill the sport.

Evaded police in a car. /claim


Driving with some friends in another car and generally driving like asshats.. I went to pass a car about 100 ft from a stop sign doing well over the speed limit and it must have been off duty or something because he flashes his badge out the window.. so both our cars take the next right turn and the cop makes a u turn to chase us but as managed to take a other turn and get back on the highway before he saw where we went and we lost him.


Also committed a gnarly hit and run. My brother was driving in Tacoma for those familiar with Washington.. a very busy highway, South Tacoma Way.. we were blazing and all super baked when my brother goes to get into the left lane without looking and we smash in the back door and rear quarter panel of a minivan in the left lane next to us. My bro dips right into a parking lot and flips back onto South Tacoma Way and out onto the freeway before the other car could even see where we went. So intense. Broke a side running light and dented his front quarter panel but everything still worked properly. We got so lucky. Soo intense. Totally blew our high as well. I feel bad for the people we hit but it is better than all 4 of us getting possession charges and having to be liable for that damage.

Fuck mobile, but in someones yard a few weeks after new years with all ye left over fireworks. 3 or 4 mortars just tossed into the yard. A 500 roll of firecrackers, 2 of those really right big strobes, a few reg rockets and some smoke grenade things. Same niight we took all thisfree furniture out front of a house and put in in the road.. A car hit it and tey called the police. Firework guys also called, had 4 cruisers circling the nieghborhood while we were sitting in my friends above ground basement raiding his dads mini bar playing Madden and watchingthe cops out the window. Damn I

I was once driving my enduro on the road going to the track, and cops came behind me. I knew they were gonna stop me, cause thre were no plates and i dont have any kind of driving lisense. Luckily i live in countryside, so i took a offroad route, hided my bike to friends garage and went playing nhl with him

oh god the high school memories. I remember one summer we seran wrapped a single intersection in this residential neighborhood every weekend for like 6 weeks straight in the summer. We would wait for a car to come and through a drano bomb into the intersection as the cars stopped for the seran wrap to scare the shit outta them. Every time the cops would end up coming and we would all run away and never came close to getting caught until the last time. They had a fucking plan for us. One of my buddies threw the bomb into the intersection and all I hear as we are all running is a loud bang and the cop yelling "what the fuck was that?" Everytime we would just run through this big open park and all of us were athletes so they couldnt catch us, but this last time as we ran through we saw two blacked out cop cars flying through the grass of this park at us and by the time they turned on their lights we practically ran into them. Me n my buddy run past them and for some reason they chase him and not me. As I am running I hear them yelling "get on the ground" and the only response I hear is "FUCK YOU". If you knew the kid you would realize how epic this was. We then ran around either side of a house and I looked over and saw him dive under a pine tree. Cops ran straight by the tree and completely lost him.

Long story short I spent 3 hours trying to dodge cops and ran a total of 12 miles all around this neighborhood. All this and at the end of the night one of the kids gets caught and tells the cops where were staying so at 5 am theres a knock on the door and the cops line us up. He's taking names and accidentally skips over me so I never got in trouble but a bunch of other kids did. The cops never mentioned the bomb, and my figuring is that they knew we were all football players and didnt want to fuck over the team by getting half of it suspended.

Yes we were shitheads, yes it was stupid as hell, but man it made for some good memories.

Cop story with no place to run. I was with a couple of friends on a dark neighborhood street in the car hot boxing. the cars lights were off everything was out and we were smoking away. All of a sudden flashing lights and sirens go off police surround the car guns drawn and tell us to drop everything and get out of the car. as we exit smoke pours out of the car. We are fucked.  the police then search the car take our weed bong and pipes and let us off with a warning which was nice since we were all 18.  they then called our parents and told them what had happened. Over all it turned out better then expected but was scary as fuck.

well tonight i was caught at a club with some things i shouldnt of had.... attempted running and all it did was add another charge. my first time being arrested, got resisting arrest and class c misdemeanor for posession. dont run from cops, end of story.

i assume most of these stories are from america?? but 1 question. why would you run from someone who has a gun !!!!

but ive never had to run, police in england are chill, super friendly. go caught numerous times underage drinking. just chat to them, have a laugh. it was great. they really dont care....
never nearly been caught for doing something else yet...

Most of the crimes that the people are running from are just petty crimes or misdemeanors which a cop would never even draw their gun over. Also i would assume (judging by the stories) most of the stories were from when the kids were under 18 which means they cant even be tried as an adult so if they did catch you if you tried to run you would probably just get more hours of community service.

everyone needs to realize that running can be used as probable cause for a cop to search you. Just walk away and if they ask to search you refuse. I never run, always walk. it tend to work for whatever reason.

my only good one was when i was at the beach with friends and i guess someone could hear us from their house so they called the police.  We had no idea about this so we were walking over the dunes and i had some girl on my back because she didn't have shoes on and a beer in my hand when a flashlight went right into my eyes.  Of course i didn't realize cause i was drunk and said whats up until he told me to stop, its the police, then i dropped the girl ran around the corner, told everyone the police were here, ran to my bike just to see that there were three other cop cars.  I just jumped on my bike and went as fast as i could in no general direction.

I have a few funny ones.

1) First time was after my freshman year (so 2 years ago) when a few friends and I decided to go egging. We hit some cars and houses while we were driving and then we decided to go to a different part of the town. There was this huge field in between an elementary school and the back of some houses so we walked through the field and hit this house. A guy comes chasing after us but we get away easily. Because we're a bunch of fucking idiots we go back to the same house the next night. This time the guy was waiting for us and as soon as we hit the house he runs out to his car and drives around the side of the field to where we were just driving away. Got our plate number and called the cops, and we couldn't avoid them.

2) Last summer this kid threw a party on a Tuesday night. It was in a huge residential area, so it isn't a surprise that the cops came. His house is right on the golf course. There are a ton of people chilling in the house and backyard, and when the cops come they go to the front door and come around the sides into the back. A shit ton of people book it onto the golf course and one of the cops starts chasing me and 5 other people. He chases us for like 30 seconds and then gives up because we're fast as fuck and he had no chance. We go into some long grass and bushes on the side of the course and wait there for a while while the cop waits and sees if we'll come out. We eventually sneak through some people's yards and make it back to where we parked.

3) A few months ago my team went to a lax tournament and there was basically no adult supervision. One of the kids on our team has his green card and fake ID so we had a shit ton of weed and beer. The first night we were there I was DDing some people and we were looking for a solid place to smoke. The kid in my passenger seat is drunk, high, and tripping balls on salvia all at the same time. He's holding up the piece in the light and loading a bowl when we hit a dead end and have to turn around. There's a cop sitting in the dead end so my friend stashes the piece as quick as he can. We're not sure if the cop saw it, but he pulls out and starts following my car and the other car that was with us, but he stays pretty far back and has his headlights off. At the first intersection I go one way and the other driver went the other way. The cop chooses to follow me, which is lucky because if the other kid got pulled over he would have been FUCKED. I go through all these neighborhoods and weird backroads and finally lose the cop by pulling off the road into a driveway in a blind corner. Lucky as balls.
