Well first to the OP this fact is that there are arguments both ways and drug use still went  up and deaths are about the same so its not exactly a magic solution. Its not legal in Portugal anyways its just decriminalized so there is still tons of money going to cartels and drug orginizations. Drug prices went down more then likely because it was easier to sell the drugs in that enviroment. Also in Canada we have safe injection sites and what not already I see no problem with this.

But if you think that being able to go to the corner store and buy meth wont increase its use your absolutely fucking braindead. People will be way more likely to expereiment when there is no legal consequences and it is viewed as "safe". If you can buy meth then as soon as you do you should be forfiting your right to be a parent, drive cars or basically live on this planet. Why should a country profit from killing people and turning people into raging drug addicts. I merely posted that article to show that with decriminilzation very little changes and drug use went up so If it were fully legal it would probably get out of hand. decriminalization=/=legal

Legalizing meth would be putting it on par with alcohol meaning that anyone can go to a liquor store and buy themselves a crack rock spoon and a syringe. If it is that easy to get drugs then use will go up. Decriminalization has very little affect on drug dealers because it is still illegal to sell the product so there is still a black market and if use goes up then actually they are making more money. As far as using drugs for medical treatment to get people off hard drugs there is already methadone and another chem I forget exactly how to spell. How are they going to control who gets the hardcore shit, what you got to pass a test or something prove you can handle it. Like that just makes no sense its either got to be a medical perscription which is already stated above or anyone over 18.

drug use did not go up, REPORTED drug use went up (and only every so slightly) it's not the same thing. that's like saying there's more gays in new york now because gay marriage has been legalized and more are getting married. deaths did not go up, do you not know what the word REDUCTION means? think of it this way: we fish twice as much and have better fishing techniques but we catch less fish, that means they went DOWN.

yes this is a problem that perpetuates violence, what is your point? money from drug sales could and should be going back to taxpayers. don't quote me on this but the war on drugs has cost over 1 trillion dollars to the US alone since it began and it's basically made things worse.

if you think that's how drugs will be sold and regulated then YOU are fucking braindead. i don't even what is this. drugs will be HARDER to get if legalized.

again, drug use in portugal at worst remained stable, in the netherlands it went down. being legal does not mean it will be considered safe (seriously think about what you just said). govs will focus their efforts on EDUCATION instead of wild goose chase incarcerations. drugs = social/health problems not criminal.

why? i'm not defending meth but surely it can be used responsibly (aka not hurting others). look at alcohol, it's extremely dangerous considering how accessible it is, what it does to you and how it can be used jointly with cars, firearms/weapons, machinery, etc. but we've EDUCATED people not to do these tings. i don't want to get in a pissing contest about which drug is worse than the other, i'm not knowledgeable enough but it's completely irrelevant.

Again there is no strong evidence supporting drug use went down the only facts are that drug use went up sure people might have been more likely to say they used but basically theres nothing proving it went down. Second The death rate went down the first few years but has now come back up to what it was pre decriminalization. Third how are they going to determine who gets to use heroin and how will the regulate it. If you belive that a regular meth user deserves to raise children I feel very sorry for your children.

Drugs will be harder to get if legalized. Look at how many kids abuse perscription painkillers these days its a fucking epidemic, If hard drugs are highly regulated and only some people can get them THERE WILL STILL BE A BLACK MARKET and then people will just be selling there own perscriptions plus there will still be all the shady stuff thats out there now. The only way to fully cut off the cartels is to fully legalize and let anyone who is of age buy whatever they want. If they arn't aloud to buy it legally they will just go and get it the same way they are now. Sorry if that isn't typed perfectly I am exhausted but can't sleep because I have a cold
