Where do YOU get royalty free/commercial music that doesnt' suck?

I'm looking for some music that I can buy to use in an edit that I could potentially use commercially.  Do you guys have any good sites that have music that isn't so fucking generic.  All the crap I hear is just so plain and un-unique on the sites I've been looking at.  Any good sites you guys mind sharing that have a better selection?

If you have friends that have a music group and any way to record their music. Ask them to make music over your video.. ? Just an idea.

I don't mean to thread jack but can anyone recommend a good song from the vimeo music store?  I'm not going to be using it for skiing so you don't have to worry about another ski edit using your music.  Just trying to get started in the right direction.

Additionally, you can always email the artist you'd like to use the music from... As long as they aren't a huge, mainstream group, they'll probably give you permission to use the music. I've emailed a couple of artists about using their music in a video I'm putting together for a film festival, and more than half of them have already responded to me and granted permission to use their music.

Also, I've found the person will be more willing to let you use their music if you email the artist directly, not the manager.

most artists have websites/myspaces/blogs/some online promotional stuff, which will usually have a contact email listed.
