they have a lot of video editing programs. not sure about the quality of them though since I've never used them. but I'd imagine, as with anything else on ubuntu, they're pretty damn good. and you can always use WINE to run Adobe Premier or anything like that.
The problem with this argument is that all these kids compare their old shitty $700 windows PC to a brand new $2000 macbook pro, of course the Mac would win under these circumstances.
To me, expose and spaces are far more organized than windows when configured correctly. The bottom toolbar is also configurable to however you want it--no zoom, no hide, no covering, if you want. You don't need all those applications in the bottom toolbar if you don't want; in fact, the more filled it is, the slower the computer will run. If you want to access an application fast, type it in the spotlight button in the screen's upper right and it'll come up almost instantly. Push enter and it's open.
I suppose if I used windows more I'd get the hang of it, and for when I do use it at school they should definitely get credit for making 7 and 8 far more intuitive than all past iterations. The truth, though, is that almost all of the changes are based off of things that Mac has already done with OS X.
I've had a Dell XPS M1330 well loaded with ram/memory/goodies for the last 6 years and have honestly not once regretted it. For a while my battery was getting incredibly hot but this was easily fixed with a lap top cooling lift.
There are far too many 14 year old's with a boner for the Macbook Pro they got for their birthday in this thread.
It's personal preference. Chances are if you're an arts student doing a shit ton of video and photo editing you will prefer a Mac, where as if you're an engineering student doing a shit ton of CAD you'll want a PC.
