sony vegas pro was my software of choice back when i was using a PC. i've upgraded to a mac since then and i'm currently rocking final cut pro. both are solid choices.

Sony Vegas is good, and relatively easy to use.
But if you want to make a real good edit then you will have to go with Final Cut

I would go with ski editor 5, it comes with a selection of wu tang songs to use and a few gimmicks such as gunshot sound effects and your favourite energy drink logo.

Dude, the amount of money you could make selling the software to all these kids wearing gopros nowadays. Is there any open source video editing software to code onto? I think I'm gonna do this for shit and giggles.

My bro does the filming and editing mostly but we use Adobe Premium Package which is better than the rest. (Screw Apples FCP)

i use paint and windows movie maker cause thats what they used in everyday is a saturday im pretty sure its the best for getting those sick blurry glitch transitions that look how dubstep sounds playing in the background
