I liked the movie. Really did. Jennifer Lawrence isn't just hot, she is also an amazing actress. Seriously.

The book was really nice. Character-development was very good, and the environment-descriptions or whatever you'd call it, were absolutely fantastic. I was, at least the Swedish translation, a very easy read. Didn't take more than three hours through the whole thing. About to read it in English, couldn't find it in any of the nearby grocery-stores, and I wanted to read it before the movie. Have also yet to read the sequels.

The book to movie transformation was one of the better ones in my mind. In class with the later Harry Potter-movies. They left out a few details, but it was okay. A little of the amazing character-development (the main feature of the book I think) was lost, but other things were gained. I found myself filling in the blanks with Katniss's thoughts and opinions from the book.

My friends who hadn't read the book loved the movie.

Hype thread, but why? A plot used in many other movies except this one seems aimed at teenagers. Is that why everyone is going crazy with this? I don't get it, someone enlighten me.

also tunnel visioned, and limiting your scope of stories. especially where a story line like hunger games, gets its inspiration from. if you dont want to watch "a bunch of little jackie chans who can't speak english,' then read the book, or read the comic. ass.

i actually didnt picture her as black either but it didn't bother me. thresh on the other hand was a baller and i thought they portrayed him perfectly

no, but looking back on that post it did come off as racist, but what i meant is that i would prefer movies in english. i don't know but when a movie isn't in english it just comes off as cheesy to me for some reason. but my bad for coming off as racist lol

How did you guys not picture them as black, there is a half a page description of rue and thresh when she first sees them before the hunger games. Basically says theyre black.

??? amelie, a beautiful life, hero, pans labyrinth, downfall. you dont like any one of those movies? i mean i cant argue your personal tastes, but there are so many good movies that are in subtitles. with that train of thought i feel your missing out. im not bashing, because i know that ultimately who am i to judge your personal tastes...

i thought it said they had olive skin or something like that. i imagined them as darker but not full on black. either way, i like thresh as black better anyways, and now that i saw the movie that makes more sense

My main problem with this series was that everything just felt so half assed. The author leaves so much out of the description of the world that I found it hard to really get into it. Half the tributes go unnamed and die with no discription or reason, the second arena has like 5 sections left blank, panem is super poorly described, it just feels really incomplete to me. I wouldn't say that they were bad per se, but they could have been so much better. Guess that's what you get with YA fiction though...

I know exactly what you're talking about I really liked that about these books, I hate books that go into extreme detail about everything mentioned, I like letting my imagination run wild about the things she left out, like Panem and some of the tributes. I would, however, like 3 prequels, one about how Panem came too be and what is going on in the rest of the world, one about the Dark Days, rebellion, and first Hunger Games, and one possibly about Katniss' father. I feel like she left out some details for that reason too

Finally sat down and read the first book last night. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. While you can clearly tell the writing is catered to a younger crowd, the story itself was pretty captivating and I find myself wanting to read the other books. Although, like someone else mentioned, I wish the author had gone into greater detail with the characters and locations.

No, it says dark brown in the book, not sure how that could be someone olive skinned/Hispanic/anything else...You probably just have better reading comprehension skills than most of the people who read these books...

i really think reading the book is what would make this movie good. I haven't read the book and i thought the movie was pretty average and way over hyped, but my sister read the book and thinks the movie is a gift sent from heaven, she wont shut up about it
