Dre Beat Earbuds...SUCK?

Hey NS, so i had some extra skrilla in my school account before break so I decided to pick up a pair of nice Earbuds for working out/basketball. I decided to ignore the 3 star rating the Dre Beats had online, and go for em (They were the Nicest headphones in the store. I couldn't get any others because they need to be bought in the store) . I've never been a fan of in-ear headphones, i've always thought they were extremely uncomfortable...But I figured they would prove me wrong for the $150 price tag.
Sadly, these are the most uncomfortable headphones i've ever worn. They came with about 6 or 7 different sized buds, and absolutely none of them fit. The small ones fall out of my head, as do the biggest pair.
I mean from what I can hear, these headphones sound bomb. Love the bass.

Does anyone have any advise with these babies? The "skull candy" design just doesn't work on my ears. I really like the apple headphone design.. those are mad comfortable. Are there any replacement buds I can get that may fit my already-bought non-refundable Beats?

yeah Dre Beats are way overrated. They are only good for bumpin bass but anything else and they suck for their price range.

I always use Amazon as a review for headphones. Many individual websites can be biased about companies or styles, but Amazon will always have a bunch of reviews (really high ratings) of audiophiles giving you a true breakdown of the headphone. They won't just say its the sickest headphone ever cause it bumps bass (like most kids would on here), but they are true audiophiles and will take in every aspect of music (frequencies, pitches, etc.)

Narrow down your headphone search and just start reading reviews. Within an hour you will have one or two options and just go from there.

Trust me. I used my buddies Dre STUDIO beats for an 8 hour train ride. They are pretty clear and can bump bass but thats about it. Have you listened to classical or orchestra on it? It sucks. Even some alt rock songs sound better on my old $70 Ableplanet NC headphones.

Sennheiser and Sony make really good headphones.

Yeah, I'm the kind of guy that will research the fuck out of anything over $75. The thing is, I didn't really have a choice cause I had to spend the $ in the school store , so it was either Beats, or nothin. Money wasn't a problem, and I had/wanted to spend the $ before spring break, so i decided to just try my luck and get em. The loud bass sounds so fucking sick with pop/rap, I'm actually really surprised with the sound. Much better than I thought.

Well my friend is quite an audiophile, and earbuds and cost you way more then 150 dollars if you know where to look, but just by hanging around him for decently long and know quite a few people with beats themselves, the quality for price is not really worth it. Granted I use 12 dollar song ear buds that are pieces of shit, and don't give a fuck about the audio quality besides how expensive they are, how they fit, and how loud they are. But I still can understand how much of a waste of money beats headphones are.

Bose and Sennheiser make some of the best headphones there are. you can get them for a low price and they'll be better than Beats.

id buy 20 skull candys and save the 130$ is sound quality 130$s better from beats, maybe thats just my cheep ass, it mightbhave changed in recent years but the quality of sound ipods put out anyway use to be sub par at a statistical level, im still using 5 year old free earbuds my old roomates in college moms sent him that she got for free with.some face wash. they suck but i feel like i could spend my.money on better things than earbuds

I find it odd that Dre would put his name on these headphones, but at the same time I'm not surprised because every rapper's goal is to sell out.

There are basically two types of headphones: those for sounding good, and those for sounding accurate (monitoring). Being a producer and all, you'd think Dre would endorse headphones designed for monitoring, but at the same time it makes sense that monitoring headphones don't sell as well as the former type.

But really, if all it takes for headphones to sound "good" to you are bass and volume, be thankful you have bad ears. Audiophilia is a curse.

Think of it this way: would music be nearly as enjoyable if you had to listen to it on vinyl with high quality cables and preamps, and speakers forming an equilateral triangle with your ears?

The answer is no because while everyone else is out enjoying music and living their life, you're stuck inside sitting in one spot with your expensive toys just so you can enjoy the damn song.

bose not so much...you're paying for the name a little bit with them. Best price/performance ratio would probably be sennheiser or sony.

heres the breakdown: Bose, Monster, and Beats are all overpriced.

if youre looking for affordable earbuds, check out the klipsch s4. $80 bucks, super comfy, and great sounding.

Not exactly sure what any of this means.

I'm super picky about my ears; I wear earplugs to every show because I want to keep my good hearing. However I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile (when it comes to recorded media) but I am able to pick apart the differences in sound pretty easily.

See if you can pass this test:

They sounded pretty different to my ears, and I'm sure it would be even more evident if I were to hear it live rather than on a poorly compressed recording through decent monitors.
