would 80mm pvc be strong enough for a jib or shld i spend the extra money and get the 100mm?

That's 80mm diameter correct? I would actually recommend getting 2 smaller diameter lengths of PVC and making a shotgun type rail.

This is a little stronger than a single pvc pipe by distributing weight over 2 pipes.

The single 80mm pipe should work ok, just make sure the "wall thickness" of whatever size you get is thick as possible.
