Girls should step up their game

No hate on girls but here is the run of Kelly at the polish open and shes still 9 and with that run she would pretty much beat every single pros!!!!
So girls you should train harder in order to not get beaten by a 9 years old girls!!!

Take a look at all the girls who are competing in gymnastics at the olympics. They may all be 15+ but the majority of them still have the bodies of 12 year olds - no hips, no boobs etc. And despite that age limit there hasn't been an overall gymnastics winner over the age of 20 since the 60's. I've seen a good number of my friends reach their athletic peak around the age of 13/14 and then hit the puberty wall and eventually quit out of frustration. The changes to the body at puberty can and do make a huge difference, but some girls change less than others and all hit puberty at a different point.

That said I fully agree that women haven't pushed skiing to their physical limits. We have a lot of progressing to do before that becomes an issue. But when we do reach that point, and if women's skiing turns out to be comparable to gymnastics, we can expect girls to be peaking in their mid teens, with the majority of them hitting puberty and quitting because they suddenly have no chance of being competitive.

Whatever... the different bodies argument is garbage. Several of the female skiers I know are way stronger, and have a more masculine build (almost) than a lot of the guy skiers.

It's 100% mental/social. Ski the Springs already said it. Girls have main a career out of beating 10 other girls who put down average runs. You don't have to constantly progress. You just need to be consistent at putting down a run. Sarah was doing forward 10's back in 2002, and everyone went bonkers when Kaya did a switch 10 this year. It shouldn't take 10 years to do the same trick backwards.

I respect the female skiers that kill it. I think Devin is way steezy, Kaya is dope, and the other top female skiers hold their own.

But when you look at progression over 10 years between men and women, it's pathetic. More pathetic that for people to see it, a 9 year old had to step up and show you to get out of your head and just commit to killing it.

I opened an sbc skier mag from "winter 2007", in it was a Salomon ad welcoming Kaya to the team. This ad had to have been shot in 2006 and she did a grabbed sw 7. Its amazing it took her (the best female park skier) 5 years to add another 360 and 6 years to do it in a comp.

End point, i respect kaya the most, battersby, gunning, logan have good style but there is a lack of progression in womens skiing i will never understand.

meg Gunning left 9 to right 9 at X was legit, hasnt been consistent in comps this season but she is def a girl to watch for.

I just hope she gets an invite to the X Games to see what happens. And from ESPN point of view, it would be very good for them because it would be the youngest competitor in the X Games' history. Her run was very good considering her unnat trick was perfectly done sw 5 blunt. In the top 3 at the X Games, the only unnat spin was a ungrabbed 3 by Segal if my memory is correct...

Where did you hear that? Ive seen her ski and it seemed like she was just having fun, her father/family friend whatever just teaching her and encouraging her.

It is "hate on girls". Look at all the "hate on girls" you created. Why couldn't you have just posted a post about how impressed you are with Kelly with the video link? That would have been a positive thing -- "wow, look at this young girl rip!" or something. And if you thought about it for a nanosecond, you'd realize that most female pro skiers avoid this site because of all the hate on them. So you certainly didn't post it to "inspire them to train harder". (This video has been all over facebook and many female pros have put it on their wall.) And what the hell does that mean -- "train harder"? Don't bother answering ...I won't be checking back to this thread.

Women have a lower center of gravity than men, because women have larger hips and smaller shoulders. A lower center of gravity is closer to the base of support.

Lolo - no hate to you but...I'm gonna play devil's advocate here
I have been debating posting this for a few days because I know everyone will take this the wrong way but I find this kind of ironic you posted/created this thread. I love your style and you hands down still have the best switch 5 in the game...BUT you were on top of the game when the doubles revolution started both park and pipe and then you seemed to fade away. Are these words of advice that you could have ran with and still been on top? What caused you not to Step your game up? Was it injuries? Or was it fear of the double?

Yes this girl is going to progress the shit out of the sport if she can stay on the same track she is on right now, but I think there are better ways to get your point across than the way you titled this thread. Now I know that 75% of the replies will be hate and irrelevant comments but I would like to hear why it was. I think the answer might be part of the reason a lot of girls arent progressing as fast as guys (Injuries). Kaya who has been progressing the sport for girls seems to have a knee injury every year but at X this year could have gone sw 7 or 9 and prob won gold still but throws sw 10 on third run to grab gold. (Progression) Hate isnt gonna help them progress, but perhaps Kelly will?

Devin Logan's winning dew tour run had two straight airs... not to hate on her directly but I mean come on, thats it? There were several other technical tricks and i know it was a long pipe, but just so not impressed with a winning run having multiple straight airs.

to the girl that said it all about having fun, yeah it is for recreational skiers. but this is their JOB, they are professional sportsmen and should therefore work hard to be the best.but because they have equal money and sponsorship they dont feel they have to, but seriously in the next few years with kelly and some of the other younger girls there all gonna find themselves dumped if they dont pick it up. whichever way you look at it the progression was extremely slow, and its not like they were ever doing completely new tricks because the top men pros had always done them before. i mean ive been freeskiing for a year and i could litteraly get good sponsorship if not more if i had a sex change, i wonder if you would get some skiers so desperate to go pro when there like 30 that they get a sex change, they would probably be successful...

i did injured myself and i choose to not do dubs and keep it in the way i was riding like trying new grabs and new combos!
i totally understand what you mean! i'm just doing my thing maybe as you said i'm fading away but i don't care cause i'm just having fun!!!
and you know i've been kinda tired of comps after 11 years so now i'm just choosing few comps just where i konw it will be fun and where i'll be able to bring new variation of the screamen seamen

Do you remember the U.s open in 04/05 i think where lolo did a big off axis 540 to the complete bottom of the landing stomped with so much style and everyone else was doing switch 10s with a mute grab.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I think the same year Lolo did a massive sw 7 in WSI, to the flats.

I still have that video saved somewhere, one of my favorite comp edits.
