My boots STINK! help?

inb4 get new ones.

My ski boots are a few seasons old. I have taken the liners out and febreezed like crazy. air dried. tried different sprays, and they still dank after a day of riding. And not just bad... but reallllllly bad.


What can I do to get rid of this ?

Cereal though, dr scholls makes some anti stank spray stuff. Hit em with that and hit em after everytime ya ride. That's what they do with rental boots too.

Haha. Third times the charm here. Somehow read over the part where ya said ya tried sprays. Sorry dude. If ya haven't tried dr scholls though give it a shot. Febreeze is only a quick fix and can actually make the smell worse after a day if you sprayed em too hard and gave the bacteria too much moisture. If I was you, I'd put em outside overnight to kill the bacteria. (the colder the better but under 60 degrees is a must) then hit em with a dr scholls or similar anti bacterial "foot specific" spray. Hope that helps.

you guys are all dumb.

the reason for smelly boots is moisture, buy a boot dryer and use it religiously.

ding ding ding.

get a boot dryer that pumps hot air into your boots and you'll be amazed. not only will the stench go away, but your liners will last longer and your feet will stay warmer since they won't start off wet.

Fill your liners with luke-warm water and a mild soap then let them dry. That should get all the crap out of them.

Sprays like Febreeze just mask the odor and don't take care of the bacterial issues

okay, being a racer, my boots suck at keeping my feet dry, because performance comes first. and i'm in them for like 4-9 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week. i can't really help you get the stank out, the above entries look helpful. but this is the best ski advice i've ever gotten.

Never wear cotton socks skiing. These suck with moisture.
use waaaayyyy too much baby powder. load your socks up and inside your boot shells and liners. it will absorb all the moisture and help with the smell. it really helps if you like raid your grandmas house and get the old kind that gives you cancer if you inhale it, look for talc as the main ingredient. i keep a bottle in my car, ski bag, and in my locker. it helps so much.

put them in the freezer for a couple of days then this kills the smell producing bacteria, next put baking soda in them this will remove the smell and then put some talc in cause this will help keep the moisture to a minimum and help keep the stink away for a while

2. convince her that if she wants your boots to smell good she should take some initiative and do it herself

freeze/baking powder them.

putting them in the freezer kills bacteria that cause odor. and the arm and hammer takes care of the rest.

ok, all you fucking idiots, DO NOT PUT ANY POWDERS IN YOUR BOOTS, ESPECIALLY BAKING SODA.

all you need to do is keep them dry as possible. If you want the smell entirely gone, freeze your liners then dry them. but seriously, just dry them after each day of skiing and they won't smell.

Mine are pretty hopeless, going on 5 seasons, and I usually rock no socks. I know, I just flew back from UT and didn't have the chance to get them dry-ish before having to pack my stuff, so the smell just hits you like a brick wall. I guess taking out the footbeds and drying them (and the liners) as quickly as possible is the best bet.

Never tired febreeze or that sort of stuff, I'll put it near the floor vent in the car, or on the heater in the motel.

Boot dryer. I bought a dryer that plugs into my car, use it to the hill and on the way back.

This will make your car reek of feet, but so what.

classsssic. and if you don't want to put "powders" in your actual liner, then take it out and put like silicon gel packets or baby powder in your shell, in-between the hard plastic boot and soft liner. this will absorb moisture before it even gets to the liner.

I go0t these put them in each night = dry worm boots next day :) and yes once in a while freeze the inner boot.

Bacteria are actually damn good at surviving being frozen, just gonna throw that out there...

Aside from the usual stuff, like making sure you dry them really well, maybe take a look at your feet? If you have some nasty fungal infection type shit going on you will get rank boots.

Don't just pull the liners, pull the footbeds out every day to dry.

this may be true. however after many freezes my liners are smell free. so regardless what the science is behind it. it works.
