Buttering/spinning onto to rails

i've been skiing for 2 years now and i can do 540 butters throughout a regular box, i can also 270 on/off boxes but i want to take this to rails. 1) is it possible to butter rails and 2) how different is it spinning on/off boxes then it is rails? tips please

Spinning off boxes= Harder than rails because scissoring is tough
Spinning onto boxes= Much easier than rails because on a rail you have to spin exactly 270 and then stop your rotation, on boxes you can spin a bit more or less than 270 and can just keep spinning no problem
Buttering on rails= Not sure what you mean, if you mean continuing your rotation while on the rail doing surface swaps then that's incredibly difficult and unless you're on a wider tube

Spinning off rails is easier than boxes because you can scissor. ie, grip the rail with your skis, like this;

as for butters, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean buttering before you get on a rail? Or are you trying to say surface swaps, like at 0:30?

I mean buttering before it, i'm talking about ride ons, i realize that step up or gaps would be impossible but could i butter before the ride on rail and then keep spinning?

i can slide rails easy but i'm just nervous about spinning on and that stuff because i don't want to nut myself

I find surface switch ups easier than regular switch ups on most rails.

If your going to want to butter on to a rail/box come in with a ton more speed then you would normally. you scrub way more speed then you think.

i'd start on a low rail (so you can't nut yourself) but you can spin on rails, i focus on one ski rather than both, b/c if you're on one ski, you'll spin all the way around w/o nutting (i know that sounds confusing but if you think about it, it may make a little more sense)

anyways, I learned blind swaps by just spinning 180 on the rail so you definitely can spin on it w/o nutting

on a semi related note, any tips for getting more comfortable with your weak foot forward on rails and boxes? I'm pretty good with my right foot forward but when i lead with my left bad shit happens.

its all mental with your weak foot, i still have trouble popping on with my weak foot, but when I 270 on or swap, i have no problem riding the rail..its weird haha

my advice would be to try it on something pretty small so you're not to anxious leading up to the rail/box, and focus on the end of the feature and leaning forward...if you're weight is balanced, you'll be alright
