Wierd Preseason Habits

I know we all hate the off-season, at least us of the normal people class here who can't afford to go skiing year round. But the worst part is the last 2 months leading up to the season where your mind just starts to freak out I guess. Yesterday I went up to my mountain for a snowboarding competition, and looking up the hill I couldn't help but envision what the place looks like mid season, and it reminded me of back home when I got so bad as to just drive out to Jackson or Targhee just to see the place, standing there just wanting the snow to fall so bad, only to realize it's still mid September. Do any of you do crazy shit like that? Or is it just me. It's kind of an extreme case looking back at it.

I'm spending the preseason opportunity to build some backyard rails and stuff. That way I keep busy and get to stuff involved with skiing. Yea and about two hours ago i pulled my skiis out and stared at them and inspected every inch of them and felt the bases and was extremely tempted to wax them... We all go a little nuts in the pre-season i think.

i cleaned the bases and waxed all of my skis yesterday... and i wore my pants and jacket around the house this afternoon - my dad looked at me like i was losing it (which i am).

i took my new bindings out of their box the other day and thought 'so soon... yes, so soon...' (the places here can't mount skis worth shit so i'm just gonna have it done in mammoth so i know they won't fuck up).

OH GOD. I just had an aneurism and blew my load at the same time. The hill I go to (Powder King... If you've never heard of it... don't bother) should be ready for skiing in about a week!!! I heard this over a friend on MSN so reports are unconfirmed, but if there is enough snow I am so hikeing that shit. I never even realized because there is no snow in town at all, and PK is a 2 hour drive away.

I did that today!

I woke up late for school and it was really cold in my house and so I ran downstairs and looked out the window expecting there to be snow, but there wasn't so I just went back to sleep and dreamt about snow...

whenever it rains, i pray to the snowgods to drop the temperature to 20 degrees so i can make snow angels. (it worked once 8 years ago during hunting season, and i haven't stopped since.)

i looked at my skis yesterday and was hoping it would snow but its okay casue i know some people that go to a nearby indoor skateing rink and the zamboney machine piles snow in the parking lot and we haul it off yeah sweet idea i know opening day is august 27th i advise all of you to make a backyard jib and look for a ice rink that does this

I have a few.

First, I keep fresh prayer flags. You can find these at granola eater/rock climbey stores. They bring snow, no kidding. I put them up, and we always get a big dump within the next few days... I put some up the other day and then it rained in town and the very top of the mountains around us got a dusting, enough to make em white.

I wear my boots around, as welll as otehr random gear all the time. I blast the AC and watch ski movies.

I also make things, and draw all over my ski clothing and my skis. We are making a summer ramp with astroturf right now, so we will be skiing soon.
