Helmet question

I am sure this has been asked before but I could not find it.

What protection difference is there with a beanie under and helmet compared to not having one. Personally I feel that the helmet not being in direct contact with the skull and having a loose fit could negatively impact the protection the helmet offers but idk. Does anyone have any information on this?

your essentially distancing your skull from the impact and increasing the time it takes for the force to travel.

instead of the force of the impact travelling from the helmet to your head it first has to travel through the beanie.

force is inversely proportional to the time taken for it to travel (trying to remember my physics) so the force received whilst wearing a beanie should be less than just wearing a helmet alone.

although i would think the difference would be marginal and it would not be the difference between life or death. the protection all comes from the construction of the helmet.

the beanie makes no difference in the protection of the helmet

As long as it still fits well, than your alright, beside helmet>no helmet, so if you have to wear a beanie with your helmet, then by all means wear a beanie

as long as the helmet fits snug it doesnt matter what you wear under it.
