i ride in a protec b2 skate and never felt like i have needed more protection. my thinking is if its made to take hits to concrete it will be fine for snow. obviously there is reasonable speed differences between skiing and bmxing but ive taken some reasonable slams in it (probably more of a reason to get a new one, but i digress) and im still ok, maybe through luck . My opinion is if your questioning whether you should get a snow helmet and have the money to get one, go for it or even better tell your parents its not appropriate and to keep you safe they need to buy you a nice new snow/4 seasons helmet. im a poor student and just wear balaclavas or yowies to cover my ears from getting cold and so dont mind riding in a skate helmet.
