Hitting boxes/Rails?

I have a problem... Every time that I hit a box or rail and try to go sideways, I end up slipping out. Which either makes me smack my head on the box or I might land on my armpit... Going straight, is so gaper..... I don't want to break my ribs every time that I hit a box or rail.... I would like tips, like do I lean forward backward center? Please help..

Make sure your skis are flat. You can't edge at all. Exaggerate putting your weight forward and it will flatten out your skis.

just focus on that back foot. that back foot can control whether u eat shit or stomp it out and the front foot is there to regulate what way u wanna spin. and keep a good shoulder distance between ur legs. dont be afraid to spread ur legs unless u have a smelly vag...

Make sure you are popping off the lip, a lot of people try to just turn onto the rail and it doesn't really work so well. So yeah, solid pop, turn 90 degrees, land balanced, with a wider stance, not leaning forward or back. Imagine you are running and jumping onto a skateboard. As soon as you are on, start looking at the end of the rail.

what i do is come in as straight to the rail as possible than grip the side of the rail and lean backwards a little.

I literally had the same problem as you for almost a full season. The one tip I tried that really helped me develop my stance was thinking about leaning on my forward foot. Whenever I did that, I found instead of having more weight on my front or back foot I'd land on the rail much more centred just from thinking about putting more weight at the front.

Another thing I'd try is focus on the boxes at first, than you dont have to be as concerned about balance on the actual feature, but just balancing your body. Once you get the feeling of sliding sideways on a box and your proper stance everything else comes much easier.

Go into confident. I know it sounds silly, but when I started a lot more park days, I was going into it not thinking about stomping it all, and it would ALWAYS end bad.
Also, in addition to the wide stance, keep your hands up. As soon as you drop them, your confidence drops too. My awesomeandamazing coach drilled that into me, and you'd be surprised at how big of a difference it makes going into it like you're carrying a lunch tray, no joke.

just envision yourself doing it perfectly in your mind.

Start off going onto the box straight, and then turn your self sideways while still on the box. That's the best way to get a feel for how a box slides. Once you are confident, start getting on a little more side ways each time. keep your feet shoulderwidth apart, keep your eyes at the end of the box, and have fun!

yeah you just got to be confident and know your going to stomp it. I have had days where I am tired and lazy and cant do anything.. get really stoked! (it helps) make sure to look at the end of the rail too.. Good luck +k for your broken ribs.

i never look at the end of the rail, usually 1-2 feet ahead of my skis. it seems sketchy to look at the end of the rail.

jump completely 90 on otherwise you will just slide off. and if you feel like your sliding off scissor a bit with you forward ski to keep you centred.

I had the same problem when i started park skiing but the looking at the end of the rail trick helped me out alot.

put the rail in between your legs if your hitting it straight on and have your legs shoulder width apart then rotate 90 and dont change that stance in the air because that will also put the rail right under your feet

You know what you have to do, you just gotta keep doing it until you get the feeling of what it feels like to lock onto the rail. Once you get that down you find you won't even need think about straight sliding a rail, it becomes as natural as just skiing down the slope.
