Young kids and cigarrettes?

I was up skiing at sierra at tahoe the other day and was waiting at the bottom of the park for my friends when another kid (couldn't have been more than 14) stops somewhat close to me waiting for his friends as well, as they arrived to him he wouldn't shut up about how...

"I DROPPED MY FUCKING CIGARRETTES ON THE JUMP! BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

Of course it provided me with endless entertainment for the rest of the day mocking him with my friends but do a lot of kids that age seriously smoke cigs?

Not trying to hate on smoking or anything I just think thats a little extreme to be starting so young.

tobacco should be illegal due to the health problems it causes heavy users. Everyone I encounter that has smoked butts long enough to recognize the harmfull effects regrets starting, for whatever reason.

Sister smokes cigs shes in grade 9 and shes really emo... Wouldnt really call her my sister. But cigs are gross don't see a point to really smoking them. I know none of my friends think its cool to smoke cigs.

It will not stay that way. Absolutely not. I thought the same thing, and then I was up to a half pack a day. And it's subconscious too. You only smoke a few more this week than last week. But it will build up, and that's a guarantee.

Take the advice of everyone else in this thread and quit while you can. Not long and you won't be able to, and if you try. It will be fucking terrible. I'm speaking from experience. Try hacking up a jar of lung butter every morning and see if you can still think that you're in control.

And to whoever said a pack of reds made their throat all raw, I used to due that every night I was drinking. Never felt any immediate effects from that. Peculiar.

I feel like the correlation between mary J and hard drugs is a LOT weaker when compared to alcohol. I don't get high and want to get more fucked up, but I sure do want to when drinking.

Yup. Don't even start. Even if you only dabble as a kid with smokes, it might come back to bite you in the ass later on as it's easier to pick up again.

Kids these days are always asking me to buy them smokes and energy drinks instead of beer, it's fucking weird.

There's not a law in action (yet, as it's in due process) but most stores won't sell energy drinks to anyone under age 15.

It's really fucking up kids here.

I know a lot of kids who started smoking cigs after smoking weed for a while. It's interesting to see the transition. Not sure what the correlation between the two are as I don't smoke, but whatever

I'm 16 and I smoked my first cig a few weeks ago when someone handed me it at a party. I just wanted to see if there was anything special to it but it was stupid so I'm done with it. I do smoke bud every once in a while though.

i think its extremely scummy to smoke cigarettes and i'd never touch them. I'm offered them countless times and i've seen friends who told me 8 months ago "they'd never get addicted" smoke a full pack in front of me. Doesn't really bother me i just wish they'd quit.

When I was in the sixth grade all my friends smoked, and whenever they went to do it they said they were going to pick flowers. I didn't/have never smoked because smoking is probably one of the dumbest things you can do in life

If the gateway drug theory is true, is most certainly is alcohol, not marijuana, that encourages further drug use. Also all the misinformation taught in schools about marijuana is to blame. Kids go "huh, they told me weed was bad but its actually really nice and relatively safe and non-addictive, they were probably lying about how dangerous heroin and meth are too!"
