Do you need to break in your skis?

Lol, i've always wondered this... Anyways, i just got some brand new k2 skis yesterday(my friend has the same pair) and his are wayyy more buttery!! They are so much more soft and flexible and poppy and all that fun stuff! We both have size 169 skis, different boots, and we are about the same height as each other. I tried to do a butter yesterday on the tips of my skis and managed to do it for a quick second before my bindings gave in and broke off my boots >.> (I'll adjust them i think)..

So, do you need to break in a pair of skis like you do boots?

imho skis don't "break in" they just wear out and lose camber/pop ....

they are k2 revivals btw, so they aren't using camber i think..I know they aren't the flexiest of skis but still they are pretty stiff right now and not as bouncy as my buddies revivals.

i dont know if it makes a huge difference, but he may be able to butter better because he tightens his boots super hard.

You have to dominate them and make them submit to you, and then they will be broken in.

ya that probably is true since i like to do my boots up quite loose and flexible.. I just found it sort of weird that my tips wouldn't flex as much as his would, and when i leaned forward too much on them to butter my bindings would just snap off, but i guess that part is the bindings fault not the skis.

binding release?

if not you must go through a lot of bindings...

but i'd say give it a few days of riding and they might get a bit softer. and tightening your boots definitely helps. its like the difference between trying to push down on something with memory foam in between or just pushing straight on it. and i have k2 extremes from like 2-3 years ago and they are holding up great!

hahaha yeah, binding release, that's what i meant >.>

but yea i'll give em a couple more days of some shredding.. I noticed they were a bit more poppier (is that a word?) and flexible near the end of the day compared to when i first got them so im sure they just need a bit more riding till they soften up. Other than being a bit stiff right now, i LOVE these skis.. k2 definitely knows how to make a dope pair of skis.. I'll probably be riding k2 now for a long time <3
