HELP: Video Editing Software for 1080/60p

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew what editing software can export in 1080/60p. I recently got a Panasonic TM900. Its output is an AVCHD (.MTP) and records in 1080/60p. I was looking into Adobe Premier Elements 10, but there was no option for 1080/60p. Please post up with any software you know of, any help would be appreciated, and will receive k+.

I believe you are looking for software that *supports* 1080p60p, not exports to it. there is no need to ever export to 60p, 24p will do just fine for exporting.


i believe Sony Vegas supports 1080p60p. Matt Ballard had a TM700 and i'm pretty sure that's what he used to edit his 1080p60p footage.

I may be wrong but I believe final cut x supports 1080p60p.....but you have to have a mac ..

I believe it is...everyone says the older one final cut 7 is better but x is still good...i just got a macbook pro its so worth it.so much bettr for editing

Yes, Sony Vegas pro 10 (now 11) handles 108060p flawlessly. I would definitely recommend it, and it really doesn't have any bugs like it used to. Just start out your project in 108060p and then disable resample all the video and render it in the desired frame rate.

Probably not. I used to edit my footage from my TM700 (1080p60p) using Vegas Pro 8 perfectly fine.

i haven't worked with 1080/60p before but if you end up getting a mac i think final cut pro 7 is much better than final cut pro x imo. but im not sure if fcp7 supports 1080/60p however that suite comes with cinema tools so you can conform all your 60fps footage to 29.97fps or 24fps and if you don't want that clip to be in slow-motion, change the speed to 200% or 250% respectively. thats what i would do anyway, and then fcp7 is smoother than silk...for me anyway

there isn't really a need to do that.


by conforming it to 24 or 30p, you are making it slow motion. and when you export, you will want to export to 24, not to 60. videos that are posted on the web at 60p look TERRIBLE.

I disagree. I edit 60p most of the time and unless you upload 60 to a bad player (like the old ns player) then it wont look bad, vimeo play 30fps. i still export my 60p video into 24.

may I ask you what you do with your full time footage?

if you conform 60p to 24p, then speed that up to 250%, you get full time correct? I get a very choppy image, even with a shutter speed of 250.

yes but you do that intentionally and for a good reason. based on what OP has said, he doesn't sound knowledgable enough to understand why somebody like you would keep it at 60. he also sounded like he thought there was a need to keep his videos at 60p, which there isn't. it's just preference.


and weren't you the one saying just a little while ago that 60p videos played back at 60p on the web looks bad? im like 95% sure i remember you saying that. the new ns player supports 60, right? or it used to a few weeks ago? looked like shit imo.

Im mainly going to be uploading to youtube. but i may just edit in 720/60p since i cant find an editor for 1080/60p

The shots look better in 760p anyway, so i think im gonna edit in 720/60p

you must be shooting it wrong, they're is no way that a clip shot in 1080p looks worse than a clip shot at 720p, unless the settings were different.

On youtube 720 looks better, in 1080 5the lines are too crisp it looks odd

probably just your computer.

sometimes when a web video player tries to play HD in a small format, for instance if you embedded a video from vimeo or youtube on NS and tried to play it at 1080p, it can have a 'too crisp' look because it's so squashed basically. too much detail to fit into a small area. if it's full screened it usually looks much better.
