Hi-Line Films spent two years on a project documenting the history of skiing in the state of Montana. The final Product is a documentary called "Why We Ride" Its purpose is more to tell the story of the people that make up our ski community, and less banger after banger ski porn and almost all of the music is local artists. I was lucky enough to get on board the project and document the freestyle club/team that I helped start in Missoula, MT. If you want to check out the whole film you can find the dvd at www.hi-linefilms.com . Give it a watch and enjoy!
Zoo Crew Segment From Why We Ride from Hi-Line Films on Vimeo.
I liked the idea of the film but the shots seemed pretty basic and it didn't really make me want to see more. Seems like there could have been a little more effort put into getting some footage than just filming a bunch at Lost Trail. Anyways it might just be that you have to compete with TSP which is pretty damn sick. Hard to really say something about a "part" of the movie without seeing it all.
We have never had anything to do with 'competing' With TSP. They are friends of ours and we support everything they do, as it is sick. That being said Why we Ride is a completely different type of film then TSP's. Why we ride was a two year project thats purpose is to tell the story of the development of skiing and snowboarding in Montana, In fact, these were really some of the only park shots in the film. The Majority of the film was interviews with key figures in the Montana ski community ranging from people in their 80's to college aged students, Historical footage, and a few segments from some local groups such as ours to show what it is developing into. As far as 'basic' shots, im not sure what you mean, but riding lost trail and snowbowl is what Zoo Crew does, thats why our shots are from Lost trail. As I said in the OP, it is not a banger after banger film. The purpose Is to tell a story, Far from what TSP's goals are. I suggest you check it out.
