Has anyone lost a toenail skiing?

so it was opening day at my home mountain today and I forgot to cut my toenails before i went. i ended up landing back seat pretty bad off a jump and now my big toenail is all black and blue. what happens next? is there any chance of it not falling off? what do i do?

U got something exactly like that landing backseat off a jump, and it looked but and kinda hurt for like a week or 2, but that was like a month ago and now it is fading and doesn't hurt. Just depends on how bad it is though, you could lose it

If you sterilize a needle and either heat it up and try to poke through the top of your toe nail, or like I prefer poke it underneath your toe nail from the front, and squeeze the blood out it will relieve pressure. This will make it hurt a lot less and can (if your pretty sure it's gonna come off anyways) slow down your toenail falling off.

I lost one playing soccer and at the same time lost the other skiing. It was about 2-3 months. But diving was the worst. Entering the pool feet first while pointing your toes rips the toenail off. It is painful, but feels so much better after.

oh god. landing feet first in a pool and having your toenail get ripped off... oh my god that sounds so bad. I can imagine exactly what it would feel like absfals asnjfnsa;gna.

Yeah. I didn't see a difference. It felt better with no nail, than a toenail that was about to fall off. I skied either way.

Yep. As morbid as it sounds this is the way to do it.
Actually I think they had a quick clip of someone doing exactly that in one of the nimbus films.

Last season i did a nose butter 3 and landed in the backseat. my boots were 25 dollar nordicas and it broke my toe. Then i lost my toenail. actually i had to pull it off cause it was bleeding inside.

ok so i just did this and really watery blood came out and it relieved a ton of pressure.. now what? do i just wait for the nail to completely come off?

Just wait it out man, you want the new nail to start growing in underneath before the dead nail comes off so baby it a bit. if your lucky it wont come off till the new one is like halfway grown in.

This just give it time it'll fall off eventually, in my case it hurt when walking around or putting on socks but felt fine when I was skiing as long as my boots were fully buckled

i lose big toenails pretty much every year. i even had an operation on my ingrown toenail, and it still grew back worse than before. shit sucsk

I lose my toenail twice a year. The downfall of having a bigger left foot and liking my ski boots and cleats to be snug.

It has a good chance it'll fall off, but it'll take a long ass time. It really sucks. Once it falls off it feels good, the most painful part is before it falls off.

Yeah last season I lost Half of mine the long way and the other half a month later. Takes a long time to heal and grow back but it doesn't matter. I was felt good riding without a toenail, knowing that the nasty old one wasn't in my sock half falling off. Also feels good to know you have a nice fresh one growing back. Now I trim my big toes all the time, but they're still black and blue already.

If your toenail turns white as apposed to clear, that's when you know it's done and it's just a matter of time before it comes off.
