Ninthward creating "replaceable edge" ski

Just saw this posted on facebook with a picture of their new lineup for next year:

"Game changer has a replaceable edge and the Home Wrecker is an edgeless design with a base material the in impervious to concrete"

Thoughts? It also said that they are now being made in northern Canada.

When asked about the design they replied with " we will it is still in the patent phase as we speak but i will have a technical drawing up next week"

Pretty cool idea. My uncle told me once about somthing like this back in the day where you had to screw in the edges in 3-4 pieces.

Snowboard companies have been making edge-less boards for urban for awhile now.. It's about time a ski company got on board.

Too bad it's Ninthward...

i'm skeptical about this working
a) because it's ninthward and
b) because if the edges aren't insanely adhered to the actual ski at all contact points, the part of edge that isn't securely fastened will be far weaker, and pull away from the ski while sliding the surface which is pulling the edge back

That would be dope, but I think once you break an edge, your base starts to pull away as well. And Im pretty sure replacing your edge wont fix what is messed up with your base.

replaceable edges is such a sick idea, and if this works well i see many a ski company doing this in the near future

obviously they'd accommodate this somehow, you don't think they'd realize that? possibly like an edge with a flat sheet entering the ski instead of perforated and then you drill it in to secure it.
