Help me choose an essay topic

I have to write an essay on a controversial national or global issue for my AP language class, so I come here to ask you to choose an issue for me to write about. Anything will do, serious, funny, big, small, but I'm looking for something really weird/funny but still known enough for me to be able to research it. also, no first-word problems please cause i need to have an argument.

oh and inb4 choosing essay topics

can the human phsyche ever allow for the complete de-sexualization of the opposite sex that would allow a friendship to spawn on the same level as a friendship between two members of the same sex.

if you have girls and guys in your class then it is an issue the will have a variety of opinions. I am sure you will be able to bring many interesting views to the paper.
