The Official "What lens for should I get" thread

Seeing as i am in dire need of some new glass, and i see every now and then i see the WHAT LENS SHOULD I GET, so thought a thread for people to ask other people on what lens they should get would be better.
Please post in this format

WHAT DO YOU NEED IT FOR?:
WIDE ANGLE/FISHEYE/MACRO/TELEPHOTO?:
PRICE RANGE:

FOR ME IT IS

WHAT CAMERA: Canon 60D
WHAT DO YOU NEED IT FOR?: A lens mainly for filming skiing, and just a nice sharp piece of glass.
WIDE ANGLE/FISHEYE/MACRO/TELEPHOTO? Wide angle most likely
PRICE RANGE: $250-$600



hopefully this kicks out. please anyone that has good knowledge of lenses try to help everyone out!

canon 10-22 is slower, variable aperture but has a better range. it also has a built in AF motor.
tokina 11-16 is 2.8 which is really nice, but the range isn't too great.
I think the 2 lenses have pretty similar image quality, you probably just need to decide on whether you want the extra zoom or faster constant aperture.

for photo personally i'd choose the canon, but for video tokina

okay no more questions then about the 11-16, i am sold. I just gotta shovel a few more sidewalks then i will man up and buy it

You should have used my 24-105 this summer! I love the range, if only it was 2.8 with IS... But really, this lens is always in my bag and will be my go to lens when I can only choose one for general shots! Then again I do photos...

Never too late! You gonna work at windells this summer too right? Hopefully getting one of the park passes through secret sources if all goes as planned. I also wanna shoot with your 100mm so bad

You should ask them. send and e-mail to info@bettycrocker.com and say Michael told you to email them. They'll prob me more chill about getting you a pass than any of my other sponsors
