How does Hoji slay so hard on Dynafit bindings?

We all know Eric Hjorleifson skis some big lines and big cliffs. And he does it all on Dynafit bindings which aren't very burly. Dynafit is known for being the lightest AT bindings on the market. I thought Dukes stood out as the only AT binding worthy of gnarly terrain. I must be wrong but how come more freeskiers don't use Dynafit?

i've been in debates about dynafit bindings for a few years now, and i've had the conversation "if Hoji can do it..." a few times with a few people. Problem is - I'm not as pro as Hoji, nor are the people I usually ski with. Some of them have been skiing with Dynafit's for a while now, and I have seen them release twice on not so big drops. They, of course, don't have breaks (which are optional I guess?) so, that's a shitty buzz.

Tomorrow I am going to the shop, I need some new bindings for this winter, not sure on if I should go with the Dukes as I have in the past, or go for some Dynafits.. We'll see if I can really afford new boots, because I think that is the ultimate decision maker.

Oh, and this thread is very out of place here on NS. are we like, growing up, or something?

Something else you nsers will like about tech bindings is the elasticity. Like a pivot. The binding doesn't interfere with the skis flex. Where a duke/baron/plate binding for better or worst takes the life out of the ski.

Drail, why don't you borrow your friends set up and give it a try.

For me, going from an alpine boot and the barons, to dynafits and an AT boot, was what made the difference from pain and suffering on the way up, to an enjoyable outing in the woods. Allowing me to go further, with less effort. Even an improved decent.

Thats exactly why i picked up a setup this year! touring in alpine boots with dukes, mfds, trekkers, whatever were just not always the best experiences. always worth it, but feel like crap halfway up. so awkward it burns so much extra energy

The fuck? Dynafits are incredibly burly. They're the only 12-din binding I've seen 180lb dudes shred AK spines without pre-releasing. That's like asking how pros slay so hard on FKS bindings.

Newsflash: Dynafits are tits.

thats just not right if u flex ur tips all the torque is on the heel piece and if u flex the tails it torques the front

hoji is a viking sent by the norse gods to slay our terrain, all that he does is out of the realm of questioning, never question the integrity of his equipment because simply he is his equipment and what he does should not be replicated for fear of being struck down by the gods.(or blowing a knee)

i have a pair of dynafits. They have din on them. There is a way to lock them so you cannot come out. This is used for touring, and also for hoji when he is in life or death skiing situations

That video was a true testament to those bindings. Ive been considering whether to get some or not and I think I will. I wonder if that video had him locked in or using the regular DIN.
