First time back flip

The previous 2 seasons I have back flipped onto an air bag and I can backfilp no problem on a tramp.  So this year im looking to do my first back on a real jump should I do it on my very second run or wait till maybe the next time i go?

I say to everyone who asks this....if it's your first time tryin it and it's not into 2'+ of pow....wear a fullface helmet if you've got one. Long story short, after doing them for a while I caught my tips once and broke my face. Lotsa reconstructive surgeries. Not tryin to scare ya out of the attempt but if you have access to a fullface helmet, def wear one your first few attempts onto hardpack. Inb4 pussies wear helmets/pussies think safety/fearmongerererer/and any other jabs for tryin to protect the kid.

^Walk yourself mentally through the mechanics of a backflip. caught my tips on the landing coming around on rotation and the energy from the flex of my skis slingshotted me face first into the hardpack. Make sense now?

Just don't hesitate and commit 100% and you'll land first try.  I always try to do new tricks as early in the day as possible.  The longer I wait, the less I want to do it.

Landed on my head twice without a helmet when I first tried it. Just be confident and commit because you already know exactly how to throw one on an airbag. Do it first run and stomp that motherfucker.

Well maybe you should have seen a ski shop fixing your bindings before trying on Backflip because if your tips hit the snow first and your skis don't click off then there must be something wrong because i can imagine at first how much you spin in your backflip..

imagine the forces on the bindings, they dont release vertically on the toe, only the heel. the toe piece only releases in horizontal motion.

in his event, the toe of the binding would be pushing vertically, and toe pieces cant release vertically! and the heel would be pressing downward so its not gonna release there either.

umm the look px series has a sort of vertical toe release that is incredibly hard to engage, but it can. i took a backy to the face and both of my tie pieces flipped diagnoly. its kinda a last resort so you dont get too fucked

just try it.  with the whole "catching the tip" thing, i did that a few times last season which was my first season trying them and all you do is slide down the jump.  idk how this dude broke his face doing the same thing.

don't over-think it...just wait till you're feeling it and commit to it, just like any new trick.
