King of Style Video Qualifier + Invited Athletes

I just wanted to remind everyone out there about the North American Video Qualifier we're currently running for the 2011 King of Style, where anyone from Canada or the US can enter for their chance to win a spot in the event (which takes place on November 19th in Stockholm, Sweden) by uploading a one-minute video of your best big air tricks.

Once all the entries are in, we'll open it up for voting from Thursday, October 27th until Monday, October 31st, where you (the kick ass Newschoolers community!) will get to decide which North American skier deserves to compete in the 2011 King of Style against the list of invited athletes, which so far includes...

I dislike people saying Henrik shouldn't be invited. Has anyone forgot he throws some sick dubs as well? Sure they aren't as gnarly, but sick either way. Fuck the haters!

as far as style mixed with tech, I think henrik is the best big air skier in the game right now.

henrik's dub at the beginning of b&e 7 is the sickest dub i have ever seen. imo he has one of the best jump games in the industry he just isnt as dub crazed as everyone else. plus his bio 16> 99% of dubs.

theres loads of people in that list who i would say have sick style. simon and jossi, just to take 2 names at random are ridiculously smooth and their style is flawless. i wouldnt be surprised if wallisch, casabon and lj are added although it seems weird that they're not already on it

Not as gnarly? damn are you crazy Henrik throws the sickest dubs AND they are different from everyone else's... even throwin em with nose butters loll. This said : EDOLLO is recovering from injury that it why hi's not competing... not as gnarly.. i hope i'm miss reading

i feel like the memory of elias winning freestyle.ch with his wicked hucked dub 14 is still fresh in everyone's mind.  that trick was disgusting, in the bad way.

I dont write on NS much anymore, but I feel like I should clarify something.

"King Of Style" is just a name. let me repeat it:

KING OF STYLE IS JUST A NAME.  IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYONE'S PERCEPTION OF WHAT IS STYLIE OR NOT.

it's what the organizers thought was a fitting name for a freestyle competition 5 years ago, and it stuck, get the fuck over it. To the general public a dub 10 mute is stylie. so is a cork 5. but the 540 wont win it.

It's the exact same thing as the Freestyle.ch, London Freeze, Budapest Fridge etc. It's a city big air competition.

Oh, and the reason Henrik isnt doing it its because he wants to chill on his knee before season.

Really cool to see all the good american KOS edits!!
It kinda sucks that there can only be one winner..

You are so right! It is just a name!

Also, big tricks like dubs or other kind of 10s and 12s and such CAN be done with style!
Just look at PK, or at Niklas Ericsons dub 10 japical in AfterDark.
Offcourse its hard on a big city jump, but still.
As long as a steezy 10 beats a badly executed 12 or 14 im happy.


Putting on a huge talltee and doing 540's doesn't automaticly give you style either.
