Seriously? Why has it never been released on the internet? I've been waiting years for it! Maybe I just missed in, and if so, I wanna see it!

You will never see it, get over it. Andy said himself that ESPN will never release it.

Besides, they didn't even lay down that sick of runs. Obviously them doing entirely switch runs with nothing over a 3 is really dope, but apparently they both ate shit a couple times and had major speed issues.

Bishop's right, this was a huge leap forward for skiing's train of thought.

A symbolic message to the rest of the world that skiing in the backcountry, doing tricks that you enjoy, and keeping things smooth were way more important than a kangaroo flip or a super-tech switch 10.

Now, a lot of skiing has converged, with doubles looking steezy (off huge BC booters and pyramid gap nonetheless), people like Sean Petit really (REALLY) amping up the style and tricks in the middle of big-mountain lines, and more people generally appreciating the importance of flow in slopestyle and big-mountain.

so, yes, HUGE. Doesn't need to be seen, it should be in your mind already :)

I would still argue to the DEATH that if someone did the fucking craziest cork 5 shifty with ZERO flailing and absolute PERFECTION... and completely utterly unsafely MASSIVE....

That this would be more stylish than a dub cork 1440 could ever be.

I'd say that tons of people would argue for and against that point to the death, can't win the argument though, it's a matter of opinion. Skiing's what you make it.

But as a dude who's been around awhile, i'd say fuck yea to that. Drop a nasty ass shifty as you take that 40 feet deep to the bottom of the landing on a 100 footer. Gets way more props in my book too.

I'd +karma you but cmon... you're Bishop haha.

The thing I don't get is why ESPN didn't ven mention a single word about their runs in any kind of coverage (TV, web, etc.) I mean, they basically cut two riders completely out of the already narrow roster. Why the boycott? You'd think they'd at least mention these two big name riders who were a part of the competition.. possibly because Redbull or Monster weren't backing them? I dunno...

i think they thought andy and pep were somehow being disrespectful to the competitive atmosphere by not going for any technical tricks and trying to make a statement with style alone. they saw it as an embarrassment.

i think skiings progression in terms of spinning is about to come to a stop. Its unrealistic really, you wont have the speed and amount of space in order to build jumps big enough to throw 3 tripples in a row, and perhaps someday a quad off of.

On the other hand, im really excited that skiing will be pushed into a more innovative direction, where people start to throw rad doubles like john ware and begin to explore more rail tricks, like hornbeck, cassabon, and kiesel among others.

Competitions will always see intense movement away from the norm (as pep and andy did then) as a bad thing. It has nothing to do with Redbull or Monster, the judges eyes were just blinded with amazingness.

This was such a huuuge step forward and totally divided the camps as far as what skiing should be...

Once the movie IDEA came out, this whole thing took notice, and galvanized. I pretty much stopped paying attention to the Xgames after 2007... at least from the standpoint that I actually cared.

the year the K2 Hellbents were invented, Andy Mahre and Pep were in X Games slopestyle, and decided to compete on Hellbents with no poles. All i've ever seen are some steezy looking photos, apparently they did zero spins and didn't spin over 5, etc, sounds pretty awesome, but no one has ever seen the footage.

There's no debate to be had....you're 100% correct. I'd maybe argue that a huge rodeo 5 with a shifty ala TWall circa '08-9 might top the cork 5, but hey we're on the right track, haha.

The bottom line is that more spinning, especially when you're throwing it and tucking it as soon as you pop, and only stopping the rotation when your skis set down on the landing will never look as good as a late/casually initiated slow, controlled rotation with a silent upper body landing. Add in a shifty or some sort of upper/lower body separation and you've got a hammer.
