How fast do you go through skis?

So, I got a pair of troublemakers around 3 1/2 years ago and they were my first pair of skis I ever owned.
Over the years though they have been falling apart on me.....like badly...so bad that 50% of the edges are gone, a lot of the base around the edges is torn off and there are too many chips in them to count :(.  So my question is how long do parks skis ridden by a park skier that stays mainly in the park last?

depends on how you ski..fines vs power..if you slam on rails/land hard you are gonna break skis..if you do the same wedges all the time edges are gonna crack then fall out..Ive had surfaces for 3 years..never had edge problems..just destroy my bases hitting rocks pre season.. just treat your skis well and they will last for a while.

obviously it depends how much you ride. Hitting rails will eventually crack and rip the edges off any ski, thats how all of mine died.

Id say a park ski has about 80-100 days in em

i bought the first jo pros and they're still going strong, not as heavily used as the first couple years but still plenty of use.

I go through 2-3 pairs of park skis in a year. I do ski more than the average person though. This year I skied over 250 days with probly 175 being in the park.

Ya if your wanting your skis to last long theres some pretty obvious things to avoid but mine after a season of mostly park/rails and theres slight edge and topsheet damage, as well as early season one day even though there wasn't a park there I think they took the most abuse the first day with all the rocks popping out on the runs and being rusty in the trees for the first time in months.

I get two or three new pairs of skis a year and sell 2 pairs of my old ones. Although most of the time it's just the edges are worn down or some small base repairs.

Since I ski a bunch of rails, I ended up my last two seasons breaking a ski in half during one of the last spring days of the year :(

Edge crack, then it opens up, then the wood gets wet, then boom :(

A pair of park skis a season, then a pair of powder skis and groomer skis every two, I ski both hemispheres, so I end up getting 3-4 pairs a year.

after a season of riding park, mine are pretty much done

but sadly i can't afford new skis so i usually have to ride beater skis for a year

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I skied 50 days last year and that felt like a shit ton. Hell after 50 days I had to basically quit due to a busted calf.

Back to the thread, I find that skis last about 1-5 bad mistakes on rails and then they are fucked. Sometimes that's 2 years, sometimes that's 2 weeks.

Exactly! At least for me, it seems like whenever i break an edge or trash a ski is when i hit really hard on in right on the edge. So obviously what you gotta take from this is dont ski. Cause everyone makes mistakes skiing an fucks skis. Except jesus. Or just be a bit more cautious when skiing....

im so jacked i'll be rolling into my third season on my skis...yeah they are beat up with the bindings being ripped out a couple times but they still roll....just need them to make it to tax return time so I can buy some new sticks.

I try to make my skis last two seasons for sure but they do take a good beating in the park. going on the third season for my k2 kung fujas and I just bought a pair of line stepups... will have to see how they hold up.

my park skis generally only last a season,

groomer's for 3+ seasons (when i take care of them)

pow sticks for a long time... you only get pow half the year i sweaaar

oh, UNLESS SOME RETARD SKIS INTO YOU AFTER YOU STOP ON THE SIDE OF A RUN AND RIPS THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR EDGE TO THE POINT ITS TWISTED ALMOST FAR ENOUGH TO FALL OUT.. then i generally finish the season on them anyway, but piss and moan every single day about it. still mad.

i rode my Line Invaders for a solid 3 seasons. edges are falling out and topsheets are fucked but otherwise they are good.

this season I got some chronics, we will see how they hold up.

I'm super broke right now. I'm riding on AR5's from like '05-'06 till I can afford to buy new skis... But those AR5's have been beaten, and still shred to an extent. So if you buy some top notch skis, they will last you longer.

i somehow managed to make my walls last two seasons. but by the end of the last the base came off in spots and your could see the edge

My chronics lasted about 2.5 seasons. Missing like 6 inches of edge, but they are still skiable! There is a crack in the tail as well but not too worried haha, I already replaced them.

roughly a pair of park skis per season, or two if they last well.

pow skis would last me ages if i could find a pair that suited me right, I tend to buy and then sell at the end of the season in order to try something different the next year.

It depends for me. I've had chronics hold up for 3 seasons but kinda jacked my last years bacons after rockin park on em. I typically am able to get at least a full season outta skis but I'm not a rail hound either. I'll hit rails on the flow but don't hike em over and over again. That's prob why my skis hold up a little longer. Plus I try my best not to stomp rails too hard and avoid big gaps to grinds.

Oh yeah and also we've found that if you try to misty off of a cannon type grind you'll crack your edge every time. We think it's because your putting all your weight on the forward edge right before ya throw it but we've had friends call bs and then do it and crack an edge. Various skis and various conditions but it seems inevitable. It looks sick but it wrecks your skis.

This is goin to be my third season skiin park, and I've happened to get 2 pairs for every season, but it just sorta happened First year , I bought lib tech skis and they gave me free armada ar6's, i grew a ton and sold the ar6's and gave the lib techs to my brother Next year I bought saolmon 2012's and won some k2's from the revolver premiere. K2's were traded for line's that I sold and 2012's ate still here, slowly dieing Just got thalls and ep pros

After having countless edge cracks and missing edges all over the place and poking out, I usually end up completely removing all of the edges very carefully. This makes for a great summer setup ski. Any one else do this?

1-2 pairs a year, although if i had unlimited funds i'd get new skis all the time, nothing like riding a pair of fresh skis

I hate riding new park skis, especially park skis. I know there is no avoiding it but its always a little sad when you right away start bashing up those 500$ pieces of wood and epoxy you just bought when they are all shiny and new.

I guess, but once you get over the initial bang up it doesn't matter anymore. It just stinks when your park skis get worn out and you have zero pop. first thing i do i dull over the edges underfoot, they are pretty much ruined at that point for anything else.

about a season.  with summer setups and hitting rails the edges are usually incredibly dull or gone after a full summer and winter

I got about 300 days on my AR6's (which is about 3 seasons for me), and I had to save up for my new skis... I decided they were done when I couldn't hold an edge at all, and both cores in the tips were broken. Most of you know they're traditional camber, but they had rocker tips when I bought my new skis.

same with my armadas, those things are great though they are nearly indestructible, my boyfriend had the first series of AR6's for like 3 years and then sold them to a friend who skied them for another year
