Coming from a long time PBP fan and a huge ski movie fan in general, I was pretty disappointed. Sountrack wasn't really good at all besides a couple of segments, there was way too much urban, and there wasn't any flow to the film at all. I understand how they were trying to get back to their "banger ski porn" PBP format after Revolver's negative reviews last year, but I think they need to find a better medium.
I dunno, something about it was just off to me. I guess I'm just always expecting another EDIAS...

dont worry about the examples people give, i thought edias had a few super dope segments but was forgettable beyond that.. but like i said i think this is the best pbp since happy dayz. just take the comments for what theyre worth-- this movie is the best PBP offering in a long ass time. you definitely should look forward to it

It's shocking you neglect to consider what an opinion actually is. I'll help, here's a intro from Wikipedia:

In general, an opinion is a subjective belief, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts.

I realize you are the resident expert on ski movies (note the sarcasm) but just because you're nightly routine consists of a couch, at least one KFC Family Feast and 4-6 ski movies doesn't mean your opinion is more right than anyone elses'.

I thought the transitions from urban to park to backcountry kept it fresh. Overall, a great movie that made me want to shred so bad it hurt.

Really? I personally thought Reasons was absolutely terrible. Long (feeling), boring, etc. EDIAS wasn't bad, but I wouldn't stand it alongside PBP's best, personally. I mean, Tim D murked EDIAS (that is the one where he had the ender and Dane opened right?) as did some others. My overall impression was that EDIAS had some really stellar individual segments, but that as a whole it was pretty average and probably bloated; not unlike how I felt about Revolver.

In any case, I think the most important thing to take from this thread is that GB was fucking tits, which I'm stoked on because my expectations were pretty low. And, I'm going to look forward to see what they come up with this year.

It's funny, I was way pumped for AD and felt slightly let down (only seen it once at the Denver premiere, so it's possible I'm short changing it a bit), and wasn't all that excited for GB and was really blown away. Just goes to show that expectations—good or bad—can have a pretty significant effect on perception.

dude really? aren't you like 20 something? you really need to stop acting like you're 12. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that others need to agree with it. Just like you don't agree with other peoples opinions of movies. You're contradicting yourself in this thread. Just say your thoughts on the movie and leave it at that, hearing you bicker and sound like you're 8 really isn't contributing to the thread

It was amazing The movie was split into individual rider segments not trip segments. Made sure every rider got a good chunck of shots. Soundtrack was tight and have to say LJ, Dane and Leigh for best parts

Hahahahaha I just read this whole thread and some of you are just batshit crazy. Reasons, EDIAS, and Revolver were good movies? HAHAHAhahahaa! I mean, they were no where near as awful as Yea Dude (btw, Tyler Hamlet needs to leave existence, I don't think anyone can fuck up a ski movie like he did). Also, why the fuck am I watching Riley Leboe ski? Do not want.

And yes, I am going to have to agree with Eheath that Ski Porn is one of my favorites, the more you watch it the better it gets. But GB takes the cake for being an excellent movie. Soundtrack was great, but I would have liked a few more thug songs (not just in GB, there were barely any this year, at least what I remember from IF3). Sure it gets old when there are tons, but not having any isn't any better.

Maybe this might explain why GB seemed so grand in your current opinion? I find it takes a couple views to even out my perception before i really want to comment on flicks as i recall being crazy stoked on EDIAS when i saw it (going in with low expectations) while later hitting the Next Scene button a lot during replays and ending up with an overall "meh, not bad" attitude towards it.

little heavy on the urban in my opinion but having said that, the urban was some of the best ive seen so i didnt mind. I did wish there were more big mountain shots and not just guys dropping a cornice and hitting a windlip. I also noticed a couple shot of guys spinning in what looked like a pretty big line but they didnt show the whole thing. I think thats part of what makes art of flight good. They can show every line beginning to end and dont have to cut it up or shorten it to keep peoples attention. good movie. best ive ever seen from pbp? probably not but it was sick.

there is no such thing as too much urban, especially when LJ is the one doing said urban maneuvers. There is, however, such a thing as too much pow, because let's be real: shots of people skiing through trees is incredibly boring over and over and over and over and over

I think michael jordan in his dorm room in 1983 would agree with that statement.

Just watched it, sick movie with some sick shots. I like the variety how each skier gets their segment so your not stuck watching 10people ski similar lines in the same place. Pretty gnarly and its got me even more stoked for winter definately worth the watch.

skiing was sick in GB but the music sucked

I loved GB! Poor Boyz did a really good job of mixing up the segments this year so it's not just one powder segment that goes on forever, then a really long park segment, but more of every other with MUCH better selections in music then in Revolver! Definitely worth all the money I paid for it

but i have to agree, the soundtrack blew (other than yelawolf), and the soundtrack for Weight sucked pretty bad too. what happened to all the hood ass hiphop and dubstep?

imo leigh powis had the most banger segment and it flowed very well. However the closer needed more i was waiting for it and it never came... btw anyone kno why ther reapeated some segments in the end?

I enjoyed it, and pretty much every part was dope. I liked most of the music except dane's opening song, and i can't say i love lcp, but it went well with stack's segment. I agree with the OP though, and I didnt like the flow. I think the music was too chill and not energetic. My favorite pbp movie is EDIAS though, I don't care if it was made for "14" year old park rats, I was about 15 at the time and i got me stoked on skiing, Because the whole movie showcased the humor and fun in being outside and shredding with your friends.
