How to build a jump onto a kink rail

ive been wondering same thing i suppose just make a little kicker with a good lip so you can get a nice pop onto it

no just an urban kink i have around my campus i was checking out the other day.  Just need some tips on how high the lip of the ramp should be compared to the height of the rail

make the lip going 3/4 high on the rail and you will be all set. because its urban dont make a kicker as much of a ramp. make a steady ramp leading to it, not a jump. sick rail i dont have rails like that:(

OP, this is the first urban you've hit? It might get a lot of hate, but I'd honestly recommend building the lip up to slightly lower than rail. Sure, there are "rules" about the height (hardcore urban shredders sometimes use the 1-2 stair rule, meaning, build the lip the height of 1 or 2 stairs), but if you watch old school movies, the lips were crazy tall and almost looked like they were trying to duplicate a park rail. Honestly, if you're just looking to have fun and to progress, I'd say start with a big lip until you're solid sliding the rail, and then at that point, maybe gradually knock it down.

The thing to remember with a down rail is that you CAN (can, not have to) build a pretty small lip because the slope of the rail means you don't need a ton of height. You really just want to focus on popping up and outward and getting your tips up and over the rail before you go 90.

Also, I think it's a good idea to sort of purposely pop over the rail, land slightly behind your bindings and slide off to the grass/non-stair side the first time or so just so you have a feel for the inrun, the lip, and what it will "look like".

Build it as low as you're comfortable with. Also don't make it kicky at all. Number one mistake I see is people making their lips too steep. I'm guessing but I'd say make it 18 inches high if you're starting and like 8 feet of transition

honestly I prefer low hits when getting onto down rails. If the hit is to big it kinda drops you down onto the rail. Its pretty to jump up to the rail when you get on

whats the difference between building a lip onto a regular down rail and a dfd?

the precision and the precision of the angle with the angle precision totally helps with the staying on and the precision of staying on the rail and....stuff
