If you run XC plz post anything in here. Times, tips, team results, anything.

My PR as a freshman was a 19:30, first race of sophmore season tomorrow morning.

I'll start by asking what are your guys tips for pre-race jitters.

DOPE MAN I PROBABLY WILL SEE YOU THERE THEN. I'D LIKE TO HOPE WE'LL WIN. LAST YEAR WE WON EVERY MEET SEPT FOR PROVINCIALS (2ND) BUT NOW WE HAVE TO RUN WITH THE SHITTY ASS GRADE 12S. WHATEVER IT'LL BE FUN TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

ILL PROBABLY BE ROCKIN MY ARMADA JACKET OR SOMETHING SO CALL ME OUT IF YOU SEE ME. OUR SCHOOL IS PURPLE/GOLD.

i love them, dropped a solid minute. since you get so much more grip, you go much faster with the same amount of effort. some people say it hurts your feet and is harder on joint because less support, but those people are bitches

bottom line: huge positive difference

I agree. They help me a lot, especially on hills. I personally don't like running races in regular shoes cause the grip doesn't feel right and it feels like I'm doing more work running in regular running shoes.

some kid was legit running in basketball shoes at out meet the other day....lets just say he didnt do so well. But i started running last year as a junior and highschool and as of this year my PR is sub 18

SO GLAD THIS THREAD WAS MADE!
gonna be a great senior year this year. i havent run a 5k on the track in a while but i ran 18:00 on a very hilly course and 17:01 on another course last year. running there tomorrow, hoping to break 16:00

eat a banana before your race, no cramps and epic speed. trust me it works

its pretty flat with some gradual uphills, like will said its kinda confusing at first but dude theres a good chance we will run against you.

totally depends on the length and terrain of the course. All through HS I worse middle distance spikes, 6km isn't that hard on them. For Uni in the longer easier courses I wore XC spikes needed the extra support. For the rough terrain races and that are part on a road, I suggest wearing racing flats. Almost as light as a spike and you don't have to worry about cement and stuff.

Just ran a 19:08 6k at the mcgill open last weekend to win the race. This summer I ran PRs of 3:45 in the 1500 and 1:51 in the 800, im really looking forward to this cross season and canadian nationals (which will be 10k though)

in grade 11 my fastest 10k was 36:32
i am now two years older and not running regularly and am not as fast, but it is a goal of mine to start running regularly again.

Im a senior been running since i was a freshman. In my 36th 5k of my career this saturday i am attempting to go sub 20 for the first time in my career. wish me luck boys. i have xc waffle 9s by the way, the orange and green ones. Pretty nice but kinda hurt my achiles.

hey good luck on going under 20 man! i pulled a 19:30 in my last race of my senior year, first time going under 20, felt sooo good

you can do it, just gotta make goals and go for it.

Hello fellow runners :) I ran varsity XC all throughout high school, and I would say that while my fastest 5K time was senior year, both junior and senior year were great (made it to state, went to an awesome meet in Hawaii). Oddly enough, though I was a miler/two miler in track, my PR in the mile was at the state meet (WAY TOO AMPED) when I ran a 5:08 first mile. Oops...still did well overall but those next 2 miles hurt. I still run a lot, but I'm not as fast right now as I was then. It was a ton of fun, and I loved doing it.
Anybody do any of those extreme obstacle course/mud runs? Those always looked super fun (didn't think that I was ready for Tough Mudder...but maybe next year!) and I'm thinking about trying those out. Seems like my type of running=run fast AND do crazy shit and obstacles and jump over fire or whatever.

Our high school meet is 6k but idk what my time was today my watch broke. Last year i went to provincials and got in the top 15% but that was still like 52nd

Yeah GHAC (Halton/Hamilton) is 7k I believe so I'll be trying to get that at around 26:00 hopefully. A month to prepare now.

i run  xc i quit sophmore year of highschool. im a senior now. deffinitely work out your abs alot youd be suprised how much it helps. in my opinion though i fucking hate running. im only doing it so im in shape for skiing and hopefully it helps me get into college.
