4Frnt YLE

Anyone hear anything bout this ski? i tried looking it up and nothing much came up. has anyone ridden a fair amount to give a decent review about them? im thinking of selling my CRJ's and getting them.

They are a solid ski if you are only going to be skiing deep pow and hucking cliffs and BC jumps.  They are going to be a little less stable on hardpack than CRJ's.  I prefer the CRJ over the YLE at least from my personal riding.

Hey Finger,

Care to elaborate? I've found the YLE to be more stable all around due to the stiffer flex than the CRJ. What kind of conditions were you skiing in? I've only ever skied them out here in Utah.

Had a chance to poke around alta on them for a few runs. Awesome ski. Basically skis like a park ski in the spinning and stomping sense, but charges and floats like a pow ski. For my style of skiing this is pretty much the perfect answer.

This ski seems perfect to me minus the fact it doesnt have early taper because on ther crj it seems to make it super floaty and not catch. Does the YLE's tips catch in pow or does having no early taper not affect it that much?

You don't notice the lack of taper as much in the YLE because the tip rocker is a lot mellower than on the CRJ, or the JJ or the S7. That, along with how the sidecut is designed, you get a pretty even edge as you turn the ski over.

It's funny because I think they are both perfect for soft/variable snow, but in totally different ways. With the CRJ you get a much more playful feeling as you sort of porpoise in and out of the snow as you make turns, and the YLE is much more of a ski through it, and plane really smoothly. Both have great swing weight and will stomp anything.

I have some JJ's (for deep pow) and a park ski and Im thinking of adding the YLE to my quiver to fill the spot where you arent sure what you might see at the resort (ie, 4" of powder, maybe deeper, maybe a park lap and crud/ice, and maybe arc a turn or two on a groomer)

I think it fits the bill because of its more traditional sidecut which should handle the carving, crud and park lap really good but and still have some rocker if I run into some pow....

I guess my question is, does it carve the hard pack good? I know it will be decent in the pow.

The YLE does really well on groomer, and in the park. Wiley was rocking the YLE in the park almost all season. It's stiff, and has a pretty good sidecut to it, so it'll rail if you want it to.

I had a chance to ski the YLE and CRJ at the Freeskier fest in Aspen. I had last years CR as my daily driver. I live/ski in Vail.

I prefer the CRJ for a daily driver. The YLE rips, don't get me wrong. It is stiff, it is wide, it is symmetrical. If you're in the BC taking off/landing switch daily, or even looking for a pow/park ski, I'd get the YLE.

I think the CRJ is a little more playful for overall resort riding and daily use. It's more manageable through trees, bumps, and I found it to have a little better hold on groomers. The YLE felt like it could be a hassle to ski on for an everyday driver.

Just a thought

You should definitely ski both, and decide which one you like better based on your style and what conditions you normally ski. For me personally, the YLE is my daily driver, and my CRJs are now my dedicated touring setup. But, I live in Utah, and the YLE is built to shine at a place like Alta or Brighton.

In CO, or elsewhere you may find you prefer the CRJs for everyday over the YLE. Either way I think you'll be stoked on your decision
