I guess I was expecting too much. Thought he was gunna go to jail and get sick but it doesn't seem like he's improved that much at all, seems just like his old style. I know its just a mixtape and he's got a lot of stuff saved for the carter 4 so I'm not doubting that much and I don't dislike it.
A lot of it does seem abnormally superficial especially now that I know that his life has changed so much. Like dude you've been in jail for the past year, I thought your on probation and your not doing drugs and stuff (I guess you are), theres no way your doing anything violent or criminal though, so why are you rapping about it in the present tense. I know this is like the common problem for rappers, like they were awesome rapping about criminal, hood rat shit but now they are famous and doing different stuff and now they have nothing to rap about. But the good ones deal with it. Look at Jay-z. Biggie was able to do it with Life After Death after Ready to Die, remember in the movie he was like 'I'm a different person now, I can't rap about the same shit, I got different problems, mo money mo problems." I know thats funny but its true. Wayne is becoming passe, irrelevant. He needed to change his style, his content, everything, and it doesn't seem like he has. What happened to 30 minutes to New Orleans? What happened to demolition freestyle part 1? That direction was working pretty well.
But the song 'Sorry 4 the Wait' is dope.
