sampling is not musically intelligent. it's literally just stealing someone else's music. which is fine if you view from the perspective of it being a cover. but otherwise, it doesn't really have any merit. and i love kanye, but i just can't really see him as a 'genius' as he doesn't write any music.

I say this every season I go and get a quick desire to move there, but Salt Lake is such a strange place to me. On the surface it seems like the sickest possible place for relatively close access to insane skiing and all other types of outdoor activities, besides weekends. After-work access to woodies alone is enough to make me want to move there.
But then everything else about the city/state just gives such weird conflicting vibes I feel like I would not feel comfortable living there. Idk how to describe the feeling, it's just such a strange dichotomy and shit show and idk, I think I'll just stay in Denver for now.

Certain cases yes and certain cases no.
Picking a specific beat out of a single spot on a vinyl record by manually is skill af

well there’s definitely different techniques to sampling and some are actually pretty intricate. the genius aka gza would sample like less than a second of a song and assign it to each button on an sp-1200 and then create a track. that shots raw as fuck. there’s some others that definitely sample enter sections of songs and sometimes they even just add in a bass line and some snares lol. when i was on ig there was a page that showed the samples for a bunch of songs and it was pretty tight. found it. tracklib

i didn't mean to be so harsh, i just made the mistake of asking reddit and got hella pretentious responses so i just kind dug my heels in more. i meant to say i dont think it's as impressive as writing a song from scratch. it's definitely skillful tho

sampling is like a spectrum, you can make the original song so much better or you can do a disservice to it. without sampling a lot of great music wouldn’t exist.
19 yo version of me only made it 3 months then left

This trip was not exactly succesful. Once again. No touring No pow No real skiing. Like I said before bad week up here is better than a good week at home.
This season I drove over 60 hours (divided into 2 trips) just to get butt fucked by the weatherman.
The feeling during the drive down to south is a weird feeling. It's not really negative but it's weird. As you make your way down you can see the snow disappearing, best days of the season are behind and it's just few weeks of spring laps left.
At least driving part is chill in the spring. Roads are dry. Just slap 20 over the speed limit into cruise control and stare at the endless forest in the middle of nowhere.

Not really. Fast enough that you have to overtake most people. It's still responsible speed but on the shittier side of the border it should be enough to get day tickets.
Lenny-Why do people like wide mouth/tinted nalgene bottles? I own one and hate it, the perfectly clear normal capped nalgene is so superior. What is that wide mouth or tint good for?
I just unhinge my jaw and put my mouth around the whole thing
je_t.aime_canardanyone have suggestions of what to see/eat/do in NYC?
VTshredder69Metropolitan museum of Art, Mets game, Grand Central, Time Square, Turtle Bay Bars.
It kinda depends where you're staying and what you're into but these are good starting suggestions.
That said I'd recommend avoiding Times Square. Fucking gross, debaucherous, tourist trap that no real New Yorkers ever go to. If you've seen it on TV you've basically already experienced it. Grand Central is kinda cool to visit and the Met is one of the best museums in the world. I'd add Central Park too, although it's so big that could be an entire day itself.
I prefer staying Downtown. FiDi and Wall St are actually really low-key and quiet on the weekend. I love walking the Battery and then you can get over to Brooklyn pretty easily too. Close-ish to LES Skatepark if that's something you're into, or fancy shopping in Soho if you're a hypebeast.
Today I woke up from my naptime and for the first time in my life I decided to go for a run. I did 5km with a mix of running and walking in a pace of 7:21/km. Is this good for someone who used their feet for the first time? How quickly should I expect to get to around 20min 5km times?
Barefoot shoes were not friendly for my feet after not touching them in the last year. I might have to get better shoes.

According to some shitty page my time was beginner for a 55 year old. Next time I should try with music. That will automatically shave 5 minutes off the total time.

My best time when I was running multiple 5ks a week was 27:30 at 19yrs old
My friends who ran cross country all had times in the 18-19 minute range when they were in high school

yea dude thats a great start and time will go down very fast if you keep at it semi often.
i run quite a bit and my 5k is still slow af at like 25 min, but i am mostly focused on technical trail stuff and longer distances
i like barefoot shoes in the woods sometimes and run barefoot occasionally as well, but good shoes are crucial everywhere else. i got pretty bad shin splints when i started from shoes that didnt fit me great.
Oh no i get to help teach people how to build irrigation sprinkler systems (I have no idea what im doing and will be just dropping down to PT so I can go bike patrol FT in May)
